Hello room,
I have just bought a Nokia 6600. I have installed some software on it. Now I see my hand phone doesn't work well, sometimes it automatically restart and some other strange problems. I would like to reinstall the operating system. I don't know how to do. If yes, please tell me how to solve this problem. Another question, nokia 6600 doesn't work well with bluetooth device, does it? I use a BF-7211 device, but I feel dissatisfy with this. I can do every thing with infrared device, but not with bluetooth device. Thank you for your attention.
Best Regards,
Hieu Duong

You can't reinstall the OS, but you can completely reset the phone.

On a Series 60 based phone, two key sequences will allow to restore your phone to a cleaner state:

Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)

Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

In both case, the phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).

Files and applications stored on E: drive are not be affected by these sequences.

If the key sequences don't work:

Turn phone off, press and hold the green (talk) key on the left + number 3 on the keypad + the * key and then turn the phone back on.

It's a deep reset!

I have the same problem
my 6600 is totally screwed:
i cant install/play java games
alot of programs dont work
and the keypad only types numbers and not letters lol

i called the company which i bought the phone from and they sed they will exchange it for a new one and it could take over 5-6 weeks..
so i want to know, if i format the phone using that key sequence.. can i change the phone back to the way it is now (all screwed up) so that when they give me the new phone i can show them the problems with it?

if i type in Deep Reset (*#7370#) then will the phone be restored bak to the way it was wen i bought it??

You can't "switch" between all clear and all screwed up... only way is, to screw it up again icon_biggrin.gif

And yes, that's what a deep reset means... it's like "format and new install" everything you've save on the phone and installed will be gone.
