For customization, u can use Oxygen Phone Manager or MobiMB. They r not free tho. Nokia PC Suite is free, but wont work w/o dku-5 cable.
Also u can personalise the fone by downloadin stuff off wap sites(ringtones, wallpapers, op logos)
U can colour scheme via display settings in the fone. I doubt there is a way to add more colour schemes.
Converting mp3s to midis is possible, but i wont recommend it. I've tried it and ended up with real bad midis. So ur best option would be to justuse plain midis.

actually i recorded a sony ericsons polyphonic ringtone on to my pc. its called 'vertigo' and 'NYC' so i was wondering if i could put this into my 3100. no i dont have the sony ericsson anymore.
is there a place where i can download the default ringtones in sony ericssons phone?(not sure what it was but its the black one with the camera) oh here they are http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic4821.htmlthanks to mobiledia boards
OxygenPM doesnt seem to let me upload my ringtones/logo/wallpaper thru internet. i still need a cable. =/ i dont have that yet. sigh.
so if i want to save all my sms's and MMS's into my computer i can use oxygen too?

Basicly you can use every (free) webspace, as long as the mime type is correctly specified.

If the G is blinking, it means its connecting via gprs.
If the G is solid with a square around it, it means u have an established gprs connection.

do i simply upload the midi to my webspace and then download using GPRS?
is there a documentation on how to exactly do this on the net?

It's not for "free"... you still have got to pay the GPRS charges. And that can be a lot (differs from country to country and contract).

Upload it with your PC and download it with you cell, that's all. Quite easy.
