--------------------------------------
how i solve the problem

install it, assign the infared port to a com port (default is com7 i think) after that go into PIMS and choose com7, DONE!!!!i can turn the speed of my port to highest, i finally can use PIMS!
but i got a question though,
1 i can't upload picture, it said invalid format or something like that
2 i can upload melody either, that two button next to filemanager has been grey out

You didn't say what OS you use. When I recieved my IrDA device, I had real trouble... exactly as you described. I was using Win2k, and found that they just wouldn't talk in PIMS, but downloaded a program called 'IrComm2k' which maps the USB IrDA to a virtual com port, and hey presto, once I'd selected the virtual comm in setup, they found each other straight away, and away I went!
'IrComm2k' can be downloaded here:
http://www.ircomm2k.de/
Hope this helps.
BTW, it was the second IrDA device I've bought. The first an ES620 (supposedly compatible with the MA620, just wouldn't work what ever I did. I evetually got rid of it on Ebay for less than I paid), so it may be that it's just not compatible with the phone. However the ES620 I had wouldn't even detact the phone in windows, which my new one did even before I downloaded IrComm2k.
Good luck!

Stupot the site that you've mentioned is a German site but that isn't my problem. I've got Windows ME and like you I can't get my MA-620 to talk to my E700. The downloads on the German site are for Windows 2K and XP and I'm wandering whether you know of a site that might download similar software which is compatible with Windows ME? Thanks in anticipation

Your real problem is your Windows vesion.... Millenium. This windows have some major bugs... In your case, you have need a data cable driver for Windows ME. Try to change your windows... 2000 or XP will be the right choice.

Thanks for your comments shu. Would you believe that I have been trying to upgrade my OS to Windows XP but I am so unlucky that even this is presenting me with problems.

That was the reason that I reccomended you to install a new Windows version. But, for make this clean an best for your computer, it's reccomended to format your drive c: and install Windows XP. Not to upgrade from ME to XP. Is better to have the system files fresh. Also, will be a good choice if you will partitionate the hard drive space (of course, maybe you have this partitioned).
