When you are in the settings menu, under ringers, go to downloads. It will be there. And yes, it costs .25 cents per pix message.

I don't think so. The usb plug is probably the only way. But i learned my lesson from trying to use that cord.

Once you have the mp3, first you must shorten it to about 20 or 25 seconds because the full 30 seconds Verizon allows is to big. Then rename it .mid so you can send it. But the only problem is if you email it through your personal email, you can only do one at a time. There is a free site -edited- where you can upload and send multiple ringtones to your phone for free. But the file must be small, maybe 75k to 95k. | Can you send me the link to that site in my e-mail @ elementsk8rguy00@aim.com plz.

hey everyone i know you all want your own ringtones and not get ripped off by getitnow right? well i just joined verizon and i realized that if you record the ringtone then send it to ur self and recieve it it automatically downloads! you can then go to where your "ringers" are and set it as ur ringtone, it comes up under "downloads" i know it might sound like a lot of "work" but trust me it's worth it, i couldn't find a ringtone i wanted and now i have it right on my phone with no fee! i thought if i could have this privillage i should share it with others...so try it sometime!

I used to own an LG 6000 with a Verizon plan with a former employer, but it broke and I needed a new phone. I'd used the email myself midi trick a bunch of times with my old LG (at 25 cents a pop of course).
Well my wife and I just bought the Motorola v265 (2 phones for $50 with a 2 year commitment from Verizon ... not bad) and I'm a bit disapointed with the size of the screen (smaller than the LG) and the camera isn't quite as good, but it has great sound quality and reception. Basically, I'm satisfied ... it's a phone afterall.
Anyway, I tried e-mailing myself some of the ringtones I used to have on my LG. Weird thing is that some that played fine on my LG won't play at all on my Motorola. It doesn't seem to have to do with the size of the files - the LG placed a limit at 30k for midi, and the v265 will play ones that are like 18k, but not some that are like 14k. Anyone have any idea what gives?
I don't want to spend that much continuing to e-mail myself tones that won't work ...

If you get an LG VX6100 you can record using the built in mic to record any sound in a room whether it is sounds or music coming from a speaker. The recorded session can then be used as a ringtone. Not always the best quality but still surprisingly decent if you play around with it. Outside of that dont know of anyway. I think the LG VX8000 does the same thing.
