I have a similar issue with my Motorola v265 - but we sent my wife some of the same songs - and they play on hers, but not mine! Go figure!

So how does one who does not have a camera phone download ringtones and pictures? I have a usb cable but the software does not support it. I checked bitpim but it does not support my phone.

I have the v265 and i just sent myself an mp3 (26k). The file downloads to the media gallery>sounds and is playable from there. In the file properties it is type QCP not MIDI. It will not appear on the selection list for ringtones when I try to modify a ring style. I had used a walmart mp3 several months ago and it worked fine.

any suggestions on how to resolve this?

If you're willing to shell out another 25 cents, one way to resolve this is to send yourself the mp3 again. BUT before you send it, rename the file on your computer as SONGNAME.mid (instead of SONGNAME.mp3 or SONGNAME.qcp).

I had recorded myself yelling on the phone to pick it up and was hoping to use that as my ringtone on my wife's phone (as a little surprise ...), but same issue - it got saved as ".qcp". I think if I e-mail it to myself, then rename it and send it again, I'll be able to have my fun. Hmm.. I guess I can cut the cost in half if I just record it directly on my computer and then send it to her ...

I had tried renaming the file as .mid and sent it again but when it is recieved the filename changes to .qcp

Methinks VW is up to some tricks.

Hmm... that's pretty strange. I sent myself about 6 or 7 "real" midi files last week (collected from various places on the internet ... all .mid extensions), and then sent an mp3 I downloaded from Walmart.com and renamed with the extension .mid. No problems.

I have an LG VX8100. I did the Walmart way. However, the mid file gets sent to 'My Sounds' instead of 'My Ringtones.' How can I fix this? It's driving me crazy.

Ok, here's my dilema...

When I first got this phone (Samsung A670) I found this site and learned how to send tones to my cell. I got 3 cool songs on it, no problem. So now, months later I want to do the same thing because a new song came out that I really like and and I want it as my ringtone. But GetItNow is a cash cow and I dont even know if they have it.

Anyway, so I got the song file, cut it down to 16 seconds and it's 62.9kb. The settings I save it with are 32kbps, 22050hz, and mono. I changed the .mp3 to .mid, so it's all good, right? Not really... I tried to upload the .mid to my vzwpix.com account, and got the error "Invalid media type for upload: whatever.mid (audio/mpeg)" So I don't know what's going on here? I was able to upload two other .mid files to vzwpix.com without any problem (and they were larger and longer files). Im confused as to why this file wont work and others will?

And I've tried emailing the file to my phone and it starts retrieving the message but at 99% it stops every time and says "Error retrieving message" or something like that.

So my problem is that I can't seem to get this file onto my Samsung A670 to use as a ringtone. I've also tried the Walmart method and have had the same results.

I've heard vzwpix now scans the files so people dont send pirated music, but I've been able to upload other music files without a problem, but certain ones wont. It's very odd....

Any help?
Thanks a whole bunch!

I have an LG VX7000 an i'm wondering how to do this. I tried the walmart way. this is what I did:

Went to the song I want.

Right Clicked Save Target as

put .mid after some numbers

With AOL e-mail i attached the file and sent it to my phone.

When it arrived nothing was in the message.

The only thing I can think f is that hen I went to the proerties of the file it said it was an .asx file. Is this the reason it isn't working. If so how can I convert it to a .mid file?

I tried again and a long message came up but still no sound. If youre trying to help me and want to know what the message says just type a post saying you wanna know. ( I don't feel like typing it now its long.)

I tried saving the file again and now it says the file type is Windows Media Audio/Video playlist.

Any Ideas PLEASE RESPOND! IM DESPERATE FOR TONES
