Look through the forum for more details, but it sounds to me like you're NOT going to the right place on Walmart.

DON'T go to music download section - there you are only downloading a link to your song.

DO go to the CD Store. There you can click on MP3s for the music. You don't want to save the asx files - you want to save the MP3 ones - and rename them as whateveryouwant.mid.

I'm not sure it matters ... but might as well save as "All Files" and then save with the name whateveryouwant.mid (that is .. just make the extension .mid).

I sent 5 ringtones to my Audiovox 8910 phone. But when I click 'Get' to d/l it first says 0% completed and then says "Network authentication failed"

Does anyone know what the problem is? thanks everyone

edit: I used 64bitrate, 44khz frequency for the ringtones. I converted them from .mp3 to .mid in Windows Explorer. all of them are less than 200k, about 20 seconds each

I sent the same .mid file I used for my ringtone to my brother's phone and it worked on his. He has a new LG phone (not sure what kind). But my Audiovox 8910 keeps saying "Network authentication failed" or "Network problem. please try later"

Any ideas?

You said you knew a way to get mp3 ringtones onto the V265. Can you get in touch with me?

Thanks!

Cheaper than using sony music box (2.99 or more per real song)... You can send 2 long songs (30-45 seconds) or several shorter ones in a single email... so that's less than 18 cents per song... don't think it's that much of a problem unless your living in the street...

I'm not sure if your phone has that ability, try the following (except not with mp3s, i believe your phone probably only has midi, if anything at all...

1. Open up any .mp3 file in a free music editor program like Audacity (or soundforge icon_razz.gif) and clip
out part of the file that you wish to make into a ringtone, keeping it at
about 30 seconds.

2. For best sound keep the .mp3 at 24 bit sample rate, 44khz frequency and
stereo, no need to change any of these attributes.

3. Change the encoder bit rate down to between 48 and 64, then resave the
.mp3 making sure that it is not bigger than 300kb. Anything encoded under
48 bit rate will sound bad and anything over 64 is a waste and the file size
becomes to big.

4. Find your new 30 second .mp3 on your hard drive, make sure you have
file extensions turned on in windows (explorer/tools/folder options) and
then right click the file and change the extension from .mp3 to .mid

5. Open up your email and attach the .mid file, make sure that you have
nothing in the subject or body of the email. Email the file to your phone
at yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com .If you dont subscribe to a call package
from verizon each time you send or recieve something via vwzpix.com you
will be charged 25 cents, still way cheaper than buying ringtones.

6. After you email the .mid file to your phone it may take a couple of minutes
before your phone announces that you have a pix message. Open up your
pix message, play or preview your new ringtone if you want and then just
just save sound. There is no need to rename it or change file extension.

7. Sometimes you will get a message along the lines of "messege cant be
recieved, file is a 100000 bytes", just click view message anyway and
the file will be there.

ahh. i am SO lost. does anyone know if it works for a samsung SCH-a650? i just got this phone, and i found this website, so i'm trying to work this. i downloaded audacity and i understand how to work it, but i can't figure out how to change certain aspects such as the bit rate and the frequency. i don't know how to save it as an mp3 either. i'm currenly using a song that i downloaded off of limewire, but i'm not sure if you have to use a song from a website or anything, and if so, where would i get mp3 songs off a website?

i'm a definite newbie when it comes to all of this!! i also tried sending what i had done to the song to my phone, but it never said i had any messages, so i went to vzwpix.com, and logged in to my account, and it said i had a message. when i opened it, the only thing that showed up was like a box in the message. kinda odd. if anyone is willing to help me, please respond!

thanks. icon_grin.gif
