ok heres what you do. go to http://www.walmart.com/ and click on the music section, type in the name of the band who sings the song you want as your ringtone. click on the album that has the song you want. now right click the link under the preview available part of the song, and click save target as... now save it to your computer. rename it to the song name. do not use any spaces. for example, make lets get it started in here.mp3 letsgetitstartedinhere.mp3
Now you have to trick verizon into thinking it's a midi ringtone. to do this, go to the end of the song, and type .mid to check this, go to view, folder options and go to hide extentions for known file types and leave it unchecked. now it should say letsgetitstartedinhere.mid if it says letsgetitstartedinhere.mp3.mid then don't worry about it. next you have to get the file to your phone. go to your e-mail adress and insert the file attach the file to the e-mail. Now send it your10digitnumber@vzwpix.com eg. 5555555555@vzwpix.com wait for a bit and your phone will recieve the message. when it is done recieving, it will play the song. it might sound a little staticy, but you can hear it pretty well. now hit options, save sound. check the ringtones section, wala! hope this helps, post if you want any more help. Also, if you want to send a lot of ringtones, i recommend buying a usb data cable on eBay and downloading bitpim because you will be able to send unlimited ringtones and wallpapers for free.

ok, so I've had my v710 since june... And I've been getting my tones via get it now. Today, I decided to get "creative" and to see if I could email tones to my phone and apply them as ring tones. SO I've searched all through this forum, and the closest I've got has been being able to email them from my yahoo account and play them. Thats all!!!!
Does anyone know how to apply them as ringtones. Also, they automatically convert from .mp3 to some weird file extenstion. HELP!!!

Try that.
to save the file you need to select the option save sound. that should be in the left or right soft key options.

isnt that is T-Mobile phone?(correct me if I'm wrong) This trick is for Verizon customers only. T-mobile phones can download ringtones off the web from free ringtones web sites.

Starwarsfan, you really seem to know your shit, so i ask you for help. i followed your directions about the walmart file and such, changed it to a .mid file, sent it to my phone(LG VX8100) and it opened and started to play. only problem is when i went to options and saved it ...it got saved into "my sounds" and i have no way of moving items from "my sounds" to "my ringtones" nore do i have the option of picking the location i want to save the file to. any help would be nice.

Okay Starwarsfan, I have an Audiovox 8600 w/ Verizon Wireless service, I went through all the steps, emailed it to my phone # at vzwpix.com, and the only thing that happened was I got a message on my phone saying "You've got a PIX or FLIX message! To see it, visit www.vzwpix.com from an internet accessible computer & follow the directions"
WHATS UP?
