Does anyone else have this phone? I'm trying to get some ringtones from outside sites for my Verizon service and nothing works. I've wasted twenty bucks on nothing. When I try to download crap I get an "Unsupported content type" message.

The get it now feature just does not have the selection I'm looking for, can anyone explain to me what's goin on?

I can't seem to start a new thread on this forum...kind of a strange set up. Everyone replies in one giant thread?

Anyway, I hope someone will see this quesion. I just can't seem to figure how to get a ringtone on my model of phone. All of the ringtone sites I have looked at don't have my model as a choice. The manual says nothing about how to get ringtones--I am clueless here. I'm not even sure what kind my phone supports or anything.

So simply, how can I get any kind of ringtone on my sch a630? Does it support mp3 music ringtones or just polyphonic?

Thanks.

I have a Verizon Samsung sch-a930 and I found a great little program that works like a charm.

It is called "MP3 to Ringtone Gold" and if you google it you can find it to purchase (or find it for free on torrent sites).

Anyway, it cuts and resizes (and converts to .mid) the mp3 for you and emails it to your phone ($0.25 for a MMS mesage). All you do is save it to your sounds and then assign it as a ringtone.

Hope this helps.

Ok I sent the file to my phone and saved it under MY SOUNDS. It's there when i just want to listen to it, but not when i try to set it as a ring tone. I have an a930.
Also, no other sound that i record can be used as a ringtone either. They are simply not listed when i try to choose them for a ring tone. Any ideas?

The program MP3 To Ringtone Gold will definately work.

It's fairly easy to figure out and totally worth it if you are going to use a lot of ringtones.

After you get your pix message, save the file to My Sounds.

Go into your Sounds Settings, Call Sounds, Call Ringtone, My Sounds, scroll to your file and press OK. You should notice that it adds the file extension .mid to your new sounds. The program does all that for you, as well as resize it (for a 30 second ring, way under 300kb).

OK I FIGURED IT OUT, I JUST HAD TO CHANGE THE FILE TYPE TO .MID, AWSOME.

MY GIRLFRIEND HAS AN LG AND SHE DOESNT HAVE THE OPTION TO SELECT HER RINGTONE FROM MY SOUNDS, ONLY RINGTONES. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET AROUND THAT?

EDIT: ok now im trying to send a file with more than 5 seconds on it to my phone. im using other programs and i got the sample rate and file size within the limits, and its only 24 sec long. but when i get the message it says the message exceeds the limit. whats up with that?

Okay I was asking a genuine question, I would appreciate if it didn't get deleted..

Does anyone know how to upload GIFs to the 9800 through some kind of program - not messages that cost money?

I have the Motorola V3c from Verizon and I feel like I am totally f*cked. I've been all over the internet trying to find out how I can trick this $150 curse of a paperweight into receiving mp3s to use for ringtones.

I've tried all the programs. I tried MPT and BitPim, MPT will only do my contacts and calender, and BitPim won't even talk to my sorry little phone. I've tried the text message method and every time it returns my message or tells me its an incompatable format (even when I change it to .mid). I've read about the Seem editor but haven't been able to find it to download, but it's probably not worth the trouble of continuing to look because I'm sure it wouldn't work either.

It's shitty what Verizon has done but the money has never been what bugs me about the whole situation. What bugs me is if I want a song on my phone I HAVE to download it from them, and they don't carry any music that I listen to. I don't listen to "Top 40" crap, and even if I did, their collection is missing NUMEROUS very popular songs that you would EXPECT to be able to download. If you're going to make everyone go through you to get music, OFFER SOME!
