Samsung & Verizon must have read all the forum posts and finally figured out how to fix the new Samsung SCH-u740 so there is no possible way to add a ringtone without buying it from Verizon. I added ringtones to the SD card under My Sounds, then moved them to phone, but I can find no way to set a sound as a ringtone on the u740.has anyone figured out how?

I had to register just to help you guys out. I just received the Samsung u740 and I am pretty happy with it.
I haven't got a SD card yet, so i dont know how to set ringtones with that. but i do know that if you just get an mp3 clip, and change the format to .mid and email that to xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpixcom it will allow you to set it as you ringtone. It was pretty simple. Just find an mp3 splitter program off google.
Hope this helps

or. you can go to http://www.-edited-
and use your from you computer or from cds.
the only charge is that it uses a picture message. so if you don't have a txt package it's gona be 25 cents a piece.
other than that. no charge for the program

I just got my u740 today. I've been screwing with it for hours. Love the thing. I loaded it with free ringtones I found on the web too. Just change the sufffix to .mid and email it to your phone at xxxxxxxxxx at vzwpics dot com (just confirming the earlier post). It gives you the option to save it as a ringtone.

Thanks sk8erod & painter - it works beautifully.I changed extensions to dot mid and sent as a pic to my number @ vzwpic and it gave me the option to "save as ringtone". Cool! Thanks again

I may have missed if someone had an answer to this as I was going thru all of the posts but would anyone know why a mp3 ringtone would save as a qcp file on the Razr V3m? I never had the problem before and am doing everything the same. I make, send and recieve the ringtone as a mp3 file but it saves as a qcp. Is there a limit of ringtones? Maybe I changed a setting accidently? I even sent a ringtone that I have (and works fine) to myself again and the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated before I go insane trying to figure it out myself

To my understanding, the whole changing the .mp3 extension to a .mid doesn't work because I do belive verizon caught on. If you have a Razr I think u can switch it up and mod it but as for sending, Verizon automatically scans the file and changes it to a horrible sounding .qcp file which sucks!
its not your phone it is the actually vzwpix server that is resending the file as a qcp. BoO!
