Hey y'all I joined because I was having the same problem as kajeki and think I found a fix. All I did was follow the same step as most everyone has been posting, except instead of changing the ".mp3" file extension to ".mid" try changing it to ".qcp". Chances are your computer won't recognize the file extension, but don't worry. Just send the file to <yournumber> at vzwpix dot com. and it should work just fine. It did for my samsung u540.[/quote]

Hi, no need to send any emails and wasting 25 cents to read those messages. download softwarre from www.bitpim.org and u can drag and drop files from pc to cell phone. all u need is a cable which u can connect from pc to phone. the website gives u specs on what cable u need for u r particular model.
it was so simple for me.
thanks

sending a ringtone through vzwpix-dot-com is ok, but it will automatically be converted to a *.qcp file. this is HORRIBLE QUALITY.
If you have an sd card the only way to put ringtone files on there is to convert the file to a *.qcp which takes forever and, again, is low quality.
Your best bet: BUY A USB CABLE! I got one for my samsung sch-a950 off ebay for less than the price of 3 ringtones from get-it-now. Then use a program like the free one from bitpim-dot-org and directly transfer your mp3's to your phone.
and THAT's the best way to get UNLIMITED, high-quality ringtones of your choice for practically FREE.
because verizon is extremely lame and likes to rip people off.

I found out today that it's all about the size of the file. Once you have the mp3, first you must shorten it to about 20 or 25 seconds because the full 30 seconds Verizon allows is to big. Then rename it .mid so you can send it. But the only problem is if you email it through your personal email, you can only do one at a time. There is a free site -edited- where you can upload and send multiple ringtones to your phone for free. But the file must be small, maybe 75k to 95k.
what's the free site called shay?

hey i have the same phone (Samsung Gleam), just got it today, rather thrilled.
anywho, all i did to get a song from mp3 => ringtone was this:
1. select any number of songs that you wish to be ringtones
2. go download some cheap-o .qcp converter and convert the .mp3 or .wav or .whatever files to .qcp
3. then do a transfer (usb cable, microSD card, etc)
4. if you're using the microSD card (thats what i used), you cannot just simply say "Use this as a ringtone" you first have to save it to your phones memory
5. then you send yourself a text message with that sound.
6. wait to receive your own text message (should be rather instantaneous) and select the option to use as a ringtone.
