Well evidentally I'm not the only one who was screwed over on this icon_squint.gif so I feel right at home! icon_biggrin.gif . I have a verizon/motorola phone and because Verizon sucks, they will not allow me to use my data cable to upload ringtones and wallpaper. But that's why we have to beat the system and I'm asking whats the best way to do it? I haven't used email and don't have the internet enabled (I am willing to change that). Would someone know where to find a good walkthrought to setup mail on my phone? Or would a site written in WML be a better option?

~FPG, screwed customer of Verizon.

EDIT: NM I got it to work, the file saved perfectly and i deleted the message shortly thereafter and the file still worked. Thanks for everything, this is so cool! BTW, I noticed a lot of you were wanted to convert mp3 to midi. Well most computers have jukebox programs (music match jukebox for example) that'll allow you to convert your mp3 to wav. From there download a free wav to mid converter and you're set. If you want to convert your mid to wav, use winamp and dl that plugin that enables that. Then if you want to go from wav to mp3 use music match jukebox to handle that. To edit any MP3 or Wav I'd highly recommend Goldwave. It's free and easy to cut unwanted parts from the song out. If you guys have any other sound questions feel free to PM me, I'm pretty experienced when it comes to dealing with sound files, just not getting them onto the phone icon_rolleyes.gif

I also have been serching for other ringtones other then the ones listed @ vtext.com. Even if a Google site has the Verison VX3200 listed on them, when you bring up the site Verison is not listed.
It's almost like Verizon has it's own set of rules or something and they were taken off of these sites after they were built.
Try it for your self list "ringtones Verizone VX3200" in Google and see how many sites come up with Verizon VX3200 on them. Then open up the site and Verizon is not even listed.
Why?

I am trying to send myself a ringtone using the vzwpix method. I am sending the .mid file using AOL mail. When my phone receives the email (lg vx6000), it says "attached file dropped". Any suggestions? Thanks!!

jcooper, ringtones are not phone specific. If you have a phone that uses midi, you can download ANY midi file and use it as a ring tone, and if it supports mp3 you can download ANY mp3, with the above instructions, and limited size obviously...

Juliette: juliette, how big is the file, memory size wise, and length wise, and what bitrates and so on did you use?

Rastafaria - thanks for your reply...the file attributes are:
203 KB, 44,100 khz, 16 bit, stereo.

Was this the info you needed? I tried to follow your earlier instructions.

thanks

chvx800 - what provider are you using to send the files? I am wondering if somehow AOL is putting some safeguard on my attached mail that is causing the file to be dropped by my phone's software.

(I say this because I notice on the bottom of my email the lines "attachments are protected by known viruses by McAfee Software.")

Just grasping at straws here.
