Okay, I've got a VX3200, so they may just be retarded. The farthest I've gotten with this is when the message with the attached midi file pops up on my cell saying I have a vzwpix message and to go to the site from a computer, blah blah blah. I go to options>save object in the hopes that my file will be there - but it draws this lovely X and gives me an error message. Is it just the phone?

I found out today that it's all about the size of the file. Once you have the mp3, first you must shorten it to about 20 or 25 seconds because the full 30 seconds Verizon allows is to big. Then rename it .mid so you can send it. But the only problem is if you email it through your personal email, you can only do one at a time. There is a free site -edited- where you can upload and send multiple ringtones to your phone for free. But the file must be small, maybe 75k to 95k.

i sent the midi to my phone but it sent me a text message saying to go vzwpix.com.

there was a post saying that I shoudl call in to activate picture messaging, but those people said that it is activated and the reason I can't view it as a picture on my phone is because i don't have a camera phone.

so question is, do you need to have a camera phoen to do this?????

The only way to shrink the file was to edit the length of the song while it's still either a mp3 or .wav file. I use Nero wave editor to edit my mp3's, or you can use windows sound recorder to edit wav files. Cut the file down to 15-25 seconds. Then rename it .mid.

Yes. You need a camera phone to accept picture messages. If you don't have one, then it will be sent to a verizon pix account where you can view pics and tones sent to you.
