i sent the midi to my phone but it sent me a text message saying to go vzwpix.com.

there was a post saying that I shoudl call in to activate picture messaging, but those people said that it is activated and the reason I can't view it as a picture on my phone is because i don't have a camera phone.

so question is, do you need to have a camera phoen to do this?????

Yes. You need a camera phone to accept picture messages. If you don't have one, then it will be sent to a verizon pix account where you can view pics and tones sent to you.

thanks for replying. one more question icon_biggrin.gif is there any other way to get a midi onto my phone besides this method?

I tried to get ringtones for my cousins phone, but she didn't have a camera phone. The only thing that worked for her phone unfortunately was "Get it Now" ringtones. Verizon makes it extra hard to get ringtones for phones without cameras. Or you can opt to purchase a data cable and send it directly to the phone from your pc.

But i think you can receive ringtones sent to your phone. You must have mobile web to go to the download link.

The only way to shrink the file was to edit the length of the song while it's still either a mp3 or .wav file. I use Nero wave editor to edit my mp3's, or you can use windows sound recorder to edit wav files. Cut the file down to 15-25 seconds. Then rename it .mid.

OK I an a bit stupid here I got nero and I croped the file down to 20 sec but how do I keep the file size down??

I did file "save as" and put the .mid extention but the file size is like 2,000kb

After you crop the song down to 20 seconds, that will reduce the file size. Save as an mp3 first, but you have to make sure the settings are constant bitrate: 32kbit and channel mode: mono. Then click save. Make sure you have a "Mp3 Power lame pack encoder". That makes a slight difference in the sound and in the file size, instead of using the mp3pro file type. But if thats all you have, then use it. After saving it as a mp3, open windows explorer and rename the file mid.

I sometimes do the walmart way. But if you want to email it through your email address, you must change the format from mp3 to mid. But you can cut corners by using walmart mp3's already shortened, but there files are still to big. I always have to do some altering to them also.
