Ok, I just went to some other Board...
I now can only speak for my 6610, but there are differences between the firmware-versions for every country.
I read here about a 4.28 Version... here in Germany 4.18 is the newest (and it exists in 2 different versions! more later)
So for fewer confusion, if you talk about a firmware, you should think about this. I was pretty confused for some days after the update of my phone and only get the 4.18 Version.
For those who want to know about the 2 different versions of the german 4.18 firmware:
There is one which is dated 07-12-02 and one which is dated 08-01-03
The first one is bugged! (and I have that one *narf*)
Tomorrow I will go to my Nokia Center here and ask for the newer Version (I had the new bugged one now for just 3 weeks or so).
Which bugs are in, is unknown (only the caller goup bug is known (but I don't have this one!))
I only got the bug, that the alarm clock doesn't works! Thank God, I found that one at a weekend and not when I really need it.

4.72 is the latest version.
4.28 still has the caller group backlight bug.

In Spain the last itīs 4.18
Last week someone tells me about a new firmware cooming soon to Spain, perhaps 4.28, but the official tech service doesnīt know yet.
The last firmware its 4.78, what changed??

Here in Malaysia they don't have V4.72 for the Nokia 6610. Latest firmware they have is V4.74. There's still a few bugs in that version. For example, the backlight comes on and off when a call is in progress. The other one would be, when you use the speed dial (pressing numbers 2-9) you get Received File on the top of the screen. This happens occasionally.

I think that you will find that the latest version of the Nokia 6610 firmware is V6 in Australia. I popped into the NOkia Care centre to put my friends phone in for a service. While I was there I asked one of the NOkia ppl what the latest version was as I only had V4.13. They told me they were in teh process of d/l the lastest V6 as we spoke. I put my phone in for the upgrade but apparently the V6 is having problems so it will be afew more days until it is released for real again.

Ooooo Here in NZ it may be the same.. I went and asked one of the guys at the local Nokia agency and he said it was DEFINATLEY higher than 5!!
Hmmm I'd better take my phone in and have an upgrade done

Just on to the Nokia shop here in Ireland and they told me version 6 is out for the Nokia 6610 so I drop in my phone to get it.

Just out of curiousity, what's the added feature in V6.00 compared to the V4.XX? Can you insert photos of the caller in caller groups?

Hi I am new to the forum but recently purchased a new Nokia 6610 only 3 days ago and the firmware default on there was 4.74
I am in South Australia... How can I find out if this is a good version and what benifits would I have upgrading the firmware to version 6.xxx ???
