Does anyone no how good the Samsung V205 works abroad? I plan on travelling to France and I would like to know some of the services maybe they offer there. Does anyone have any advice on using the v205 abroad? and possibly some of its advantages?
Also will the v205 work in Japan? Is there any possible way?
Thanks
Phil

It should work fine, What I would recommend is that you get your phone unlocked in Europe and use prepay service while you are over there. Roaming for T-Mobile starts at .99 a minute. Being that it is a tri-band phone, you shouldn't have any problem using it with any service provider in Europe. Japan on the other hand was only using CDMA last time I checked. Your phone will do you no good there if that is the case. Good luck

No problem. Try 3gupload.com. They seem to be the best I have found. I'm assuming you subscribe to WAP access. Too bad we can't download games onto our phone. It's one of the best on the market in my opinion. Good Luck PCW2

Thanks again. I'm assuming thats wap.3upload.com? Or is this a non wap site?
One other question do you know if t-zones will work with a foreign provider, say in France? I'll be in France this summer and I am trying to make sure everything is A OK before leaving. By the way for the sim unlock; do you know of a universal unlock code I can use to unlock the V205?
Thanks

Hey, Sorry I've been out for a couple of days. That's actually www.3gupload.com. It will take you to a sign in screen. You have to go to that site on your PC first and register. You don't have to pay the donation to use the downloads, but it's only $7 and they really are awesome. As for the unlock code, I'm haven't found one yet. I found a temporary one one a Samsung forum. I do know that if you get your software flashed over to a v200. You will be able to punch in a code to unlock it. Not sure on where to get the software bc I never looked for it. Pretty sure you can find it online. Your t-zones will not work in Europe. It's a network specific feature. I haven't figured out how to reset the WAP settings on that phone yet. I haven't left the states, so it hasn't been an issue.Plus I have an ericson and a panasonic that are easy to change over. Let me know if you need anything else. PCW2

I just checked the samsung forum on this site and they have the info you need for flashing. Also try nokiafree.org. They have a nice samsung forum. PCW2

Thanks again, by the way do you know what the advantages of flashing your phone is? And maybe the disadvantages if there are any? thanks for the link for ringtones and screensavers, that is excellent. By the way there is also another one if you havent already heard; matrixm.com--they charge you for each download, but it is relativley inexpensive.
I am going to look into the flashing the phone. You are of great help. If you are intereted in the latest or well, state of the art cell phones, visit vertu.com--its a cool site and they have some pretty nifty phones that costs a whole lot, but they say these phones will and can never be outdated because they are always upgradable.
Let me know if you find out anything more on the unlock code. I know there is a universal code, its just a matter of finding it.
Thanks,

I don't know of any of the top of my head aside from being able to unlock it remotely. I've played with a v200 and it is nearly identical. I didn't use it for long bc it was a customer activating a prepay kit with me for use in the us, but it was long enought to know. Nice websites by the way. I've seen something similar to a Vertu phone, but never knew how pricey they were. Also try howardforums.com. They are a huge resource. They're almost too big. ttly PCW2

The websit you gave me for uploads; I am having some minor problems getting my phone to accept the screensavers I download from there. Do you know why this might be? the phone excepts the ringtones, but not the screensavers, it says when I try to download from my pnone "not accepted". Any clues? By the way cool site other than this minor problem.
