The screen flickering problem is greatly reduced in version 4.72. Get your phone upgraded. 4.74 is the latest version, but there seems to be more flickering, but you get more free RAM in 4.74.
The newest batch of LCD screens also don't flicker as much, so you can also get your phone or LCD screen replaced. Take a look at the 7250, it uses the new LCD screens.

depends on the wallpaper, mine, as it gets lighter, less the flickering. The most noticeable was when I ahd that 'boat in the ocean' wallpaper (in built).
Oh well, nokia must have done it on purpose, so that their next generation colored screens would encourage current colored nokia users to upgrade for a better screen.

Ok, new LCD sounds good, but does it solve this problem out?

Hi guys, I think I found out the reason because of which our screens flicker. I think this is because of the better compression of "jpeg" files. So it is difficult for our 6610s to cope with them. Try to set a "gif" picture as a wallpaper. It works out on my phone I hope this will help you as well. Attempt it and let me know.

I have the same problem with my 6100. With some wallpaper colors its easier to see. When i have played some java games, its much worse, and the brightness of the display shocks.
When i have one or twee battery signs, and i'm sending files over via IR, when my screensaver pops up, i CANT SEE ANY CLOCK! Just a silly grey banner.
On the main screen, with full battery, i have less contrast and sharpness as my friends 5100. His menus are also a lot sharper. As much details i can find, we both have exactly the same screen.
tomorrow i'll check a service centre, for a screen and software replacement.
(current sw version 4.01)

so whats the real solution guys??? if there is one??
my first 6610 lasted 4 days...keypad blinks when i use it.
i had it replaced and now it flickers.
with the lcd replacement...i dont think i want a new phone opened up even by nokia themselves...if its really a buggy phone i dont want it.
i hope the place where i got it will exchange it for a diff model.

ok, i've been to a nokia service centre today. I asked about the bad screensaver quality of the 6100. They sad they have noticed it too, and they checked almost their whole stock, and they all have the same problem. I asked them to replace my screen, but they said that it probably not helps, and i'd be missing my phone for a week.
I asked for upgrading the software, and they upgraded from 4.01 to 4.70 (the last version they had).
Now my screen saver works perfect, but when playing java games, the flickering is sometimes there. But i think i need to live with that.

I have the same problem. When working with the phone, there is almost no flickering, but when playing games, it starts flickering unendurable. however, i dont play games much, so i can bear it.
