i think i will tell you what the problem is and put you all out your missery...
the screens used by Nokia are STN screens (some of you may of had a laptop aloooonnggg time ago when STN screens were used and they were of much the same quality as the nokia STN screens)
the STN NON active displays are extreamly poor in sunlight they flicker and they tend to change in brightness from very very dark to very bright when alot of images are moveing on the display, The only reason nokia used these displays is because they are a cheaper option to TFT screens, and STN screens do not eat as much energy as TFT ones.
the 7250 has an improved STN screen because its an Active Matrix STN display when the other ones used in 7210 6610 6100 and so on are not. the 7650 3650 phones are also STN screens, but are active matrix displays
the quality of the screens (non active STN screens) can be improved with software but not alot. the better the quality of the display the slower and more ghosting will go on and so Nokia have made a balance
Ladies and gentlemen i give you Nokia. Dont you just love them! i know i do

True...but look at how many phones they've sold compared to Samsung who use higher quality LCDs. Nokia used cheaper LCDs to get the price point right. Now they're selling them by the bucketful (just look how busy this forums is).
While the quality is not outstanding, for most uses, it will suffice. In time, as the price (due to manufacturing costs) of higher quality LCDs come down, we will see more phone manfacturers offering higher quality screens for less. Compare this to the price of TFT LCD Monitors, they used to be super expensive, but slowly they're coming down in price and becoming accessible to more users.

so ok, i just got a 3200 like 2 days ago and it also flickers. so far ive only noticed it when im using the keypad, and that also flickers BTW. its annoying, and i might go to att and ask them if theres anything they can do, but i just wanted to know if this is as serious as it gets?
i mean is the general problem that it just flickers? or are peoples screens totally crapping out and it gets to the point that the phone just breaks? is this a deteriorating problem or is it just gonna flicker once in a while?
this is my first experience w/ a nokia, and up to now (besides the keypad design) ive loved the phone.

hey guys!
there's nothing to worry about, 6610 screen does flicker a lot, and it's annoying!
it's may be because of the LCD type it used. why not upgrade to
a better phone?
had replaced my 6610 with 6600 few weeks back, the screen is just
awesome!
