Hi everyone, I'm a newly registered user. Hope you're doing great. I need some help here guys.
Something is wrong with my phone. My letters disapeared from the phone, All I have is numbers. I mean when I write messages and other stuff on the phone all I can use is numbers. Tried to change it by going in Settings > Phone > General
but I cant get in the General settings it says:
- App. closed gs!
I was wondering can I shut the whole system down, delete all download stuff and maybe I can get the manufactured settings then get my letters back.
Anyone has the problem?
Plz guys you're my last hope!
Greetings from Tamara........

How to reformat Nokia 6600?
Turn phone off, press and hold the green (talk) key on the left + number 3 on the keypad + the * key and then turn the phone back on.
Warning: formatting the internal drive results in ALL DATA being removed. Use this only when you experience serious problems with your device.

After done so, really everything is gone (except for the numbers on your sim card )
Or you can do this:
| Quote: | On a Series 60 based phone, two key sequences will allow to restore your phone to a cleaner state:
Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)
Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.
In both case, the phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).
Files and applications stored on E: drive are not be affected by these sequences. |
I would first try the normal reset so my saved data is still there. If this doesn't help I would try the deep reset (after I've backuped my contacts and pictures etc.).

I'd recommend a Normal reset too. Looks like sum system file has gone corrupt.
btw can in it be that ur stuck in the number mode while typin?? I no its a dumb question but it could be(yes, i've seen such things happen before) and that the system error and the sms problem r not related??
Curious as i am, this is the first time i've heard of this problem, so im quite eager to know if the reset solved it in ur case.

hi, new user too! I've experienced the same problem. I think its caused by some kind of virus cause the problem only occured after I'd downloaded loads of applications from a few dodgy sites. Anyway, thanx!

There is only one virus for Symbian OS phones at the moment and the virus doesn't react that way... some apps just don't like each other because they install some files in the system folder and if they collide it could have some strange results.
And some apps are cracked badly

Try the normal reset first(*#7780#) and see if it solves the problem. If not, try the deep reset(*#7370#)
