I have Nokia 8265 with Cingular. and my text messaging has been very
unreliable lately icon_sad.gif
I can always send messages but cannot receive them. I called Cingular tech support, and data support, they all tried to fix it, but every tiem they fix it, it works only for couple of hours sometimes for a WHOLE day! and then stops working. it has been a month and i basically have to call Cingular every single day. i am so sick of this...... icon_sad.gif
sometimes they tell me my home area code for text messaging wasnt right so tehy set it up, then sometimes tell me taht they had issues with platform and they fixed it, but they have been unable to provide me with any constant permanent solution.....
Can one please give me some suggestions?? i have 3 months left from my contract with Cingular, so i cant just turn to some other carrier without paying early terminatoon fee....... icon_sad.gif

Ask the tech reps at customer service to check your connection in "Snooper". This is a new program that just came out for the company to fix these problems. Some phones lock themseleves on towers when it comes to text messaging. Unlike calls when you get locked you power cycle the phone, text messaging is different. The other thing to check is which mailbox you are using to send messages. There are 3, one backup, one test, and one main. On the nokia try to find the settings for the inbox, the service center number can be one of the following,

+12099042030
+12099042020
+12099042010

and yes the plus must be typed in. 010 is the test center, and 030 is main.

If you still have problems post again and I'll see what else I can get you.

I have logged over 8 hours of calls with Cingular Customer Service. Each time they say they have fixed the problem. Each time I tell them that they have done the same thing before and when I hang up I will have the same problem.

This is the most frustrating this I have ever done in my life. I can not get them to take the initiative to fix the problem. Each time I call they say if it does not work call back.

On my Samsung x427M I get the message, "SMS Service Initializing" and it returns to the main menu. I don't receive my text messages pretty much all the time now and I really depend on it.

Has anyone been able to resolve this problem with Cingular?

For the message service center # it has been listed incorrectly it is *13123149870
*13123149810

If you are having problems recieving txt msgs chg the serv center # in the inbox set up settings and then power off your fon for 30secs then have someone send a msg to the fon, if that still doesn't work you need to proceed to call cust serv but don't do it from the fon b.c we won't be able to anything besides tell you to call back from a different fon b.c most of us reps are in a inbound call center and can't do call backs.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Take two asprins and call me in the morning doesn't cut it.

We changed the service provider number on the third call to customer service.

Every time I call I have called from my landline. Each time I call I am told that everything is working now and there is nothing else that can be done. Every time I say this is what I was told the last time AND every time the service has not worked shortly after I hang up.

The problems have included:
No text messages (Which I have depended on for many years)
Voice mail that only works part time (The caller gets a message that either says enter your password or this phone is not in service)
Dropped calls when I have three to five bars.
AND poor modulation even when I have three to five bars.

The phone has been replaced
The simm card has been replaced
I have logged over 12 calls to customer service and over 8 hours now of totally wasted time.
I logged most calls including the person I spoke to and the time on the phone.

If anyone at Cingular is listening be assured that this will be a downfall. No business can stay in business with this type of service.

This is with out a doubt the worst service I have ever had to deal with.

Why can't someone at Cingular take the initiative to get a phone, test it and then send it to me when they know it is working properly?

I would be ashamed to work for this company and be so bound that I could not provide service after this many calls and this many hours trying to resolve an issue.

Message to Angel786 - based on what I have experienced it would be SO worth it to pay the termination fee and give Cingular the boot. I have wasted SO much more that $150 of frustration with them trying to get service that works.

Pay the fee and keep them from getting the revenue. Also, file a complaint with the FCC. Make sure you have logged your calls and file this with your complaint.

It bothers me to be this upset with a company.

Well we are a company and let me know what company you have that you are not going to have 1 problem with b.c there isn't any company out there that is perfect. And yes you will experience dropped calls b.c we can't not provide service every where you go and it even states that in the contract. Also yes if you call in from your cell phone and something isn't working how do you expect us to solve the problem exspecially if everything in our system is set up correctly, if we have checked everything in the system and we have went threw troubleshooting steps in the phone and still doesn't work take it to the store b.c here at cust serv we can't see the phone and we also can not see what you are doing and make sure that when you are doing is correct so the easits why to do it is to take it in a store so they can do it for you, giving some stores aren't for sure either what there doing so they will call cust serv and we will tell them what to do.

heres a question??? are you calling from your cell phone???? if you are save the gene pool some trouble and go play in traffic, dont EVER EVER EVER call from you cell phone if your having problems with that cell phone because we will either a) tell you to call from a lan line or b) not be able to help you 100% if you need an 800 number its on your bill

I've got exactly the same problem (SMS intitializing - fails) I've wasted 2 hours of my life on talking to singular (yes, on a landline, snotty man). Anyone got any suggestions? I'll tell you , I"m regretting signing that 2 year service agreement.
