Will both of these phones work in the 5 major continents?
Australia, North America, Asia, South America, Europe?
I heard the 6230 only works in 3 whilst the 6600 works in 5.
Also what is the maximum number of continious recording you can do?
Will you be able to record 5 minute clips on both phones or is this reduced?
Cheers |
They are both triband (900/1800/1900) phones and will work all over the world where these frequencies are supported.
6600 has 10 seconds of record time but they can be expanded to unlimited (or: as much as the MMC allows) with external tools like ETI Camcorder.
The recording time should be confirmed by someone who has one because 5 minutes continous recording doesn't sound like reallity to me.
BTW: abhishta, my 6600 order was canceled I ordered now from another website

1) Nokia 6230 plays WAV, MIDI, MP3 and supports polyphonic ringtones.
2) Default video footage time is 4 mins max but this is changeable to unlimited if you have suffiecient space. (I.E. a memory card)
3) USB data cable and bluetooth and infrared all work on the 6230.
| Quote: | | Can you easily upload the Video and Pictures to a PC with a standard USB Data Cable? or is other software required? |
You will need the Nokia PC-Suite installed.

WAV was not created by Nokia!
| Quote: | | For instance I was told that the Camera function on 6600 is far better off the 6230 despite the latter having an Active TFT. Is this due to the Symbian technology? The review of 6600 has actually said that this phone have a lot of bugs and the quality of the picture from camera is bad. Thus if the camera function on 6600 is better than 6230, does that mean that the picture quality of 6230 using the camera is near un-acceptable level? |
The screen size on the 6230 is relatively small than the 6600 so the reslution is smaller but the camera quality is the same. When uploaded to a PC, the images and video is the same quality on both. But, playback on the 6600 phone will be better than the 6230 as it has a larger screen. The 6230 camera is totally acceptable although it has no pre-shot zoom but u can zoom after taking the image/video.
| Quote: | Is n6230 loudspeaker loud enough??
can n6230 camera zoom???
which h/p r worth buy?? |
The loudspeaker is loud enough and there's a headset bundled with it if ur not happy.
The camera doesn't support zoom but u can zoom after u take the shot.
Only you can make the decision as to which phone to buy. See what suits u most.
Though, i prefer the 6230 by far.
| Quote: | | Frm wat i know, the loudspeaker is better, improved in the 6230. |
That's quite obvious regarding its Stereo while the 6600 is mono!
| Quote: | | Also I've read that the 6230 only has 5 minutes of Video Recording time, can anyone confirm this? |
It's 4 mins by default but can be changed to unlimited.
| Quote: | | Yes, u can obtain the DKU-2 cable(or dku-5) for the nokia 6230. Check as to which is it exactly. |
Both cables work fine. The DKU-5 doesn't need drivers though, unlike the DKU-2.

The 6230 is tri-band, it works in all 5 countries as does any other tri-band phone.

You heard wrong!

How?? Does it require any external app?? Or does the recording time increase automatically as the mmc size increases??

Yes i know that.
But in a 3650 or 6600 wen u enable the pc suite's inbuilt file converters, and try to send an mp3 to ur fone frm the pc, the pc suite automatically converts it into a "wav" file. This wav file is decoded differently as compared to the wav files on ur comp as it has a file size lesser than the mp3 itself. But people who dont know this sumtimes get confused thinking that the wav file is actually the huge wav file which u get wen u convert mp3-wav on a pc. That is wat i meant.

hmm...i didnt know that the fact that output being stereo or mono affected the loudspeaker in any way??
There is only one loudspeaker so how does stereo or mono come ito picture here?? Its just abt how powerful the speaker is.

I've decided to go for the 6600.
So if I put a WAV (MP3) file as a ringtone on it, it will definitely be loud and clear won't it?
How many can I upload to the phone at once and how long will it play for?
Cheers

Or any IR port or Bluetooth port will do.
6600 can use only the IR and Bluetooth ports, no data cable.
This WAV is different. Its an encoding format by Nokia, whereby the size of the wav file is actually lesser than the mp3. |
Will the Belkin standard adapter work with both of these to upload games and MP3s?
If not could you please link me to a IR and Bluetooth thingy I will have to buy?
Thanks Man

Yea, Belkin BT adaptor shd work.
For IR, try MA-620 or MA-700. Search it at google. I use this IR port n it works fine.
