Hi
Can anyone tell me about the following features in regards to the Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6600 as I couldn't find a definitive answer on the internet.
1- What is the difference on Ringtones between the 2?
Do they both play MP3, WAV AND Polyphoic or is it one or the other?
What I mean is assuming it can play a MP3 or WAV Ringtone, can they also play Poly Ringtones as well?
2- How many seconds or minutes of footage can you record on the Video Camera without spending any money on addons? and which would you say is better?
3- Finally, will a standard Nokia USB Data Cable work on uploading ringtones to both phones? or do you need a Bluetooth Cable or something? I may be way off base here.
If anyone could help it would be appreciated.
Thanks

6600 has symbian os, its a smartfone.
6230 is a series 40 fone.
In the 6230 u can set mp3s as ringtones
In the 6600, u can set amr files and wav files as ringtones.
6230 has stereo playback output.
6600 has mono.
6230-10 mins video recording.
6600- unlimited with help of add-on s/w(can be obtained for free)
6230- Connectivity Options: Cable, IR, Bluetooth
6600: IR, Bluetooth.
IMO, if u dont need the stereo output and EDGE of the 6230, and the small size, u might as well go for the 6600. Its the best selling smartfone of this year, has tons of features.

Can you easily upload the Video and Pictures to a PC with a standard USB Data Cable? or is other software required?
A Wav ringtone is basically an MP3 isn't it? except WAV uses more memory?
Cheers.

for the 6230 u'll need the dku-2 cable by nokia.
Or any IR port or Bluetooth port will do.
6600 can use only the IR and Bluetooth ports, no data cable.
This WAV is different. Its an encoding format by Nokia, whereby the size of the wav file is actually lesser than the mp3.

Dear moderator,
Your comments seems to put 6600 slightly inferior to 6230 based on the mono, size, EDGE and connectivity.
As I am still trying to find out whether I should get myself a 6600 or a 6230 to replace my current phone I need to know the distinct advantage of 6600 over 6230, in particular having the Symbian OS.
For instance I was told that the Camera function on 6600 is far better off the 6230 despite the latter having an Active TFT. Is this due to the Symbian technology? The review of 6600 has actually said that this phone have a lot of bugs and the quality of the picture from camera is bad. Thus if the camera function on 6600 is better than 6230, does that mean that the picture quality of 6230 using the camera is near un-acceptable level?
Sorry as I am not a techno freak but would really like to know the distinct advantage of the Symbian OS over the series 40 phone.
Thanks

Oke. Let me stress on this again. The 6600 is a SMARTPHONE!!!
It's like a mini-computer. Watever u want u can install in it.
The 6230 is series 40. Its functions are limited to wat is there in the manual. No extra functions can be added.(However, the list of its functions is pretty impressive)
6600 and 6230 are both different classes of fones.
To know abt the true power of symbian fones, read this post:
(was written for 3650, but applies to 6600 too)
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic3748.html
And yes, cam on the 6600 is better imo.
@jie_xp,
Frm wat i know, the loudspeaker is better, improved in the 6230.
Both the 6600 and 6230 are worth buying.

Hi
Seeing as it's a Smart Phone Does that mean you can download an application to enable for the 6600 to play MP3's?
Also I've read that the 6230 only has 5 minutes of Video Recording time, can anyone confirm this?
Finally from what you have said, I gather I can use a USB Cable from Nokia for the 6230, is this correct?
What port's will I need to have on my Computer in order to use the phone?

Oke, my mistake there. Its not 10 mins, its lesser. Abt 5 mins. Checked at the nokia site.
U can play mp3s on 6600, but they will be in MONO, not in stereo. And there's a world of a difference betn them.
Yes, u can obtain the DKU-2 cable(or dku-5) for the nokia 6230. Check as to which is it exactly.
U'll need a usb port on ur comp.
Be it an ir port, a cable or a bluetooth dongle, all are usb.

Hi
Will both of these phones work in the 5 major continents?
Australia, North America, Asia, South America, Europe?
I heard the 6230 only works in 3 whilst the 6600 works in 5.
Also what is the maximum number of continious recording you can do?
Will you be able to record 5 minute clips on both phones or is this reduced?
Cheers
