Hello People!
I want to update from my failed attempt at a mobile phone (nokia 7210) to a decent clamshell model! Ive been drooling over the e7xx series phones alot!
The only differences ive been able to notice reading reviews and stuff is that e715 has a picture phonebook (useful, when you need to be staring at the phone, while its open predicting a phone call) and that it has a flash (ive read that it's pathetic). Also that the OLED on e715 is not as good as e700?
I was just wondering if anybody would be able to give me some further advice on which model to buy?
Also, buying e715, putting my own sim card in.. is the whole interface of the phone covered in T-Mobile promotion? Or does it change to my service provider?
Id really appreciate a reply, my money is burning in my pocket!! Thanks! - Chris

The E715 is much better than the E700. Yes the flash is strange but the camera is better and you can flash the E715 to E710 if you want the video recorder which you can't do with the E700. And im not just defending my phone i have them both so i know what im talking about .

Hi-ya
Like you I love the new samsung and I am dying to get my hands on one... I have the same reservations in reagards to the E715. If I buy it outright and putmy own simcard from a different carrier than T-Mobile - how does this affect the phone?
Also what is flashing - I know I am clearly seeming very silly but I would rather ask ...

Hey! Im in Australia too!
I think its going to have T-mobile in the inferface of it anyway, thats if its got T-mobile software installed.. its going to be either voda or t-mobile (ask whoever ur buying it off which one it has)
The T-mobile interface looks more colourful so i think thats the one to get.. but I THINK, im not sure.. the voda interface (grey and boring/ugly) has video recording aswel apparently.. so im conflicted.. i wish i could have both!!
I too dont know anything about flashing, could somebody please give us just a breif outline what it is and what it does to your phone..?
Thanks!

Theres no harm in puttin ur own SIM card in the phone and using it. I have both phones too (according to Don here) and I use my own SIM card on a phone that says "VODAFONE" and its been workin fine...
Cheers.

Phatman! i got a question for ya!
Ive been reading ur threads and ive came to the conclusion..
Theres two kinds of e71x:
T-mobile menu's and Vodafone menu's
T-mobile menus pro's is that it looks better.. Vodadones pro's is that it has a video recorder.. and you cant have both on the 1 handset .. am i right? is it just personal preference on which one to buy? (i have to get it from overseas and put in my own simcard)
Thanks, chris

Mate,
It is possible to have the E17 (non-vodafone) display whilst keeping the video recorder and any other E710 features. The only way you can achieve that is by flashing your phone which is like changing the operating system on your computer. RIght now I have a T-Mobile E715 and it has the video recorder but the also the crappy vodafone display. Only prob is that the firmware (operating system) is not available YET so you'll have to put up with the vodafone display like me until it comes out.

so can you only get the e710 in that dull grey colour? its a bit offputting really and does the cable that transfers pictures from the phone onto the computor come seperatly?(can you also use it to tranfer pics from the PC to your mob?) Thanx
