Call your customer service number (611 from your mobile) or 866-CINGULAR, etc. Just ask the rep if your SIM has been provisioned to allow for SMS messages. They will likely send some updates to your SIM card, and talk you through power-cycling the phone.
At least, that's what we need to get my wife's V400 working properly. When she received them before, she would get a SMS with a link to a website with user name and password, like non MMS capable phones do.

You can't use MMS on prepaid phones for one thing. For another thing, there is no OTA that your handset needs in order to send MMS messages. That's incorrect.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm wrong from time to time, but explain this to me...
When I used to receive MMS messages, I would receive a website and p/w to view it (i.e., it wouldn't come through to my phone). I called Cingular customer service as I suggested the earlier post... They provisioned my account - I agree that doesn't require an OTA; however, I also received a message on my phone about an OTA (maybe it was unrelated for both my and my wife's phone). The cust service agent insisted I power cycle the phone before sending MMS. looks and sounds like OTA to me...
Why are you so adamant that it doesn't require an OTA update?

I just received a Samsung D-500
I am trying to set it up for GPRS... (Cingular) with no success.
The Tech support from Cingular refuse to help me.
Can you?

in order to set up email on my samsung e317, this is what i come across:
i go to messaging, email messages, setup, then account.
email account:
choose from
bellsouth
earthlink
sbc/yahoo
custom
i have a yahoo account, although i'm using a gmail account as well.. does it matter?
so i choose yahoo, and i'm given this list:
account name
connect name
name
e-mail address
protocol type
incoming server
user ID
password
outgoing server
and that's it. a lot of information is provided in this thread, but i'm not sure how to utilize it.
help?

I put the settings cellfreak posted in an unlocked Sony Ericsson K700i and it worked. I can send and recieve text messages, and go on the internet. When I connect, it does give me a message "Server Identity could not be verified. Continue?" It gives me this message 5 times, but the internet will still work. Is there a way to fix it so I do not get this message? thanks

Yeah I get the same thing, Service 1, 2 or 3 but can't select the MMS service I set up in Websessions. Kinda blows. Wish this damn would just flash and get rid of all the T-Mobile crap.
Wonder why in the hell it won't flash and shuts down both MultiFlashFlex.exe and phone too. Motokit works fine though, wish it had a setting to flash phones.
