i have absolutely no idea how to upload ringtones that i have downloaded to my 6610.. can someone pls help?

first of all you need to unzip them...the you will have a .mid file, now open Nokia Sound Converter, open the .mid file and follow on screen instructions

I think you'll need MobiMB or Oxygen Phone Manager..

mobimb and oxigen phone manager are very good progs but you need to pay them you can also upload your ringtones using Nokia Sound Converter which is free and usually packed with your mobile

but the Sound Converter only allows transfer from PC to phone, not the other way round... 
I managed to download the trial Oxygen Phone Manager. I found that the files that are transfer from the phone are in DAT format. It is therefore not compatible with the Nokia PC suite.
