so, i have read all these posts and still cant make up my mind if i should by a v600...
everything anyone says has been contradicted somewhere else!
1) i have heard the phone can only store sms on the sim? if so, how many is this rougly? seems like a waste of the 5meg memory if u ask me...
2) i have heard the battery life is rubbish? i was inclined to think this was just cos of a few duff units, as will happen always, but it seems to come up quite a lot in various forums....
3) i have heard a lot of questions about the mp3 ringtones...the main reason i would be buying one of these over a samsung e700...could i just put them up on my webbsite and download them by visiting the website on my phone?
4) i have also heard the UI is a bit slow...well, very slow! and theyres nothing that annoys me more than having to wait for the phone to catch up with me! i have a SE T68i at the mo and its just about bearable... anyone got any experiance of both phones who could tell me how they compare?
any answers to any of the above much appreciated! if i didnt want a clamshell i would probably get another sony erricson (but not that z600 beast, i simply dont have the pocket space for it!) but because i do its gonna be this or the E700...

I got mine recently (last week)
1) don't know about sms (I rarely use this feature)
2) battery life has been very good, charger in the car seems to be enough I use the phone about 1 hour each day and have only charged it in the car
3) mp3 ringtones are great, I am looking for a free utility to chop up some of the good parts of many MP3s that I have still
4) the UI is normally just fine, every once in a while it is slow but workable

Got mine last week:
- I was told there is a limit of 20 texts, then Orange told me 14! I've now passed 21 in my inbox, and it's still letting me receive them!
- Battery life is average to above average (3 days no use, 2 days average use)
- Don't know about ring tones
- UI is a bit slow, but doesn't seem to miss characters cos you're typing too fast. It's acceptable for me.
However....
- No SMS delivery receipt is available
- Bluetooth synching seems to be a nightmare. I have tried for 4 hours - no luck

Hi. I've had my V600 for about a week now.
I don't know where the phone stores SMS. Mine had up to 88 I believe stored in the Outbox before I cleaned it out. It would not allow me to email large pics (34KB) due to 'phone out of memory' error. Once I cleared out SMS, I could attach large pics again.
Battery life is good. I charge mine every night. Everyday I play games for a couple hours, send SMS, talk on it. In other words, I use it a lot and I haven't seen the batt meter drop below full yet.
I haven't tried putting MP3 ringtones on it yet. However I have uploaded pics to my website, then went to the website with the phone and was able to pull pics down. If it works for pics I would guess it would work for ringtones.
The only time the UI is slow for me is when scrolling through the phonebook. All other times it is reasonable.
As far as bluetooth....coming from a guy who never owned a bluetooth device before, I had no trouble. I bought a Jabra earpiece, and it took the phone about half a second to detect the earpiece. 5 seconds later it was all set up and I was making test calls with it. Then I bought a Linksys bluetooth USB adapter. That took a few minutes longer due to driver installation. But everything went smoothly the first time, no troubles at all. All bluetooth functionality is fine.
Basically I love this phone. It's my first Motorola and my first flip. I am coming from a Panasonic Allure which has served me very very well. I was just ready for a color screen and games. I was envious of my friends Samsung and Sanyo flip phones for quite awhile. Interestingly, once I got the V600, my friends phones look and feel like $2 kids toys. The Moto feels like a million bucks and that's not an exaggeration. If you are like me, you will be grinning from ear to ear from the moment the FedEx guy hands you the package, to the assembly stage, right up to making calls. hehehe. Repeat, I love this phone.

I'm using a TDK bluetooth adaptor from CarphoneWarehouse. They assured me it would work with V600, but neither the cd manual, or their website mentions it as a phone that works with their software.
I did eventually get the pc and V600 synched once, but there were no options to do anything except one which looked like a file transfer facility of sorts, but clicking on it just kept resetting my pc!
simianb, have you bought the V600 now?
Also where did you get the DK adaptor from?
..and what management software are you using - the stuff that comes with the adaptor?

yes i have bought it now quite happy with it except for sh1tty inbox size, no sms reciepts (now sort of fixed in a post i have put up if your interested) and not-quite-there buttons (it should be made a hanging offense to produce a phone without good buttons!!!)
but basically i agree with austin...mp3 ringtones work pretty well (as well as they would do with a tinny little speaker anyway) i download my stuff off my website cos im to cheap to shell out for a bluetooth adaptor, but ive heard if you do use one with your pc u dont need to use any software...(with WIN XP at least)
just install the adaptor pair with the phone then click on my bluetooth places/devices there should be 3 folders... pics, sounds and videos, just drag and drop....apparently! as i said i'm not 100% as i dont have an adaptor but thats what ive read...

Nope, no 3 folders visible.
Do you mean you use WAP to download stuff rather than a bluetooth adaptor?

yes i put my pics and stuff on my website and download it from there... doesnt always work and its not as fast but it saves me having to buy an adaptor cos i dont have any other bluetooth products...
also (i think) its free as wap time counts as part of my inclusive minutes but not sure...
sorry i can't help you with the adaptor, thats just what i read in one of the other posts...
