Its always best to start is to let your battery empty until the point where it turns itself off. - Although it turns itself off it will still have a little power innit.
Then leave it charging untill its full. You do not need to keep an eye on it as its not going to explode or anything but it will most likely be charged up within 2-5 hours.
If you keep doing this for a few days/weeks and your battery life is good to excellant then you can charge your phone when/whereever you please.
Hope this helps

In addition to this great advice on conditioning LiON batteries, I would like to add the following.
After a few full drains and charges, you should try to avoid deep drains and long charges. Try to always “top off” the LiON batteries whenever possible. Doing all of these can greatly extend the life of a LiON battery.
I followed these same procedures with my previous phone (Nokia 8260) that I used it for over 2 years. I gave it to my Mother a few months ago to use, after I got my T300. It still has the original battery and holds a strong charge.

should I recharge it for 14 hours at the first recharge, like I did all the times with the old phones.
everytime I bought a phone the seller told me that the first recharge should be atleast 12 hours.
is it still exsist ? or I just have to recharge it as you said?

Well I don't think your phone needs 14 hours to be full I mean full is full so I think around the 5 hours will be enough right?

When i bought my battery they had told me that if you like to extend your battery life. You should drain it fully if its a Nickel Metal Hydride. As they keep memory. For Lithium you do not have to do that. Instead charge the battery in full and keep it in the Freezer. For 2-3 hours. They said you should not keep it for continue charge as it reduce it burns the chemical. Therefore reducing the life of the battery.

In my T300 is a LiPolimer battery wich was about 30% full when I bought it.I charged it for +-4 hours and now it works great
(But using IrDa and the camera quickly drains the battery)

I don't really have the technical specs but what I do know is that Lithium Ion batteries need more care than the new Lithium Polymer ones (which I'm told my SE T610 is on).
LiIon batts have some sort of "memory", which requires you to charge up to 14 hours the first time around. The logic behind this is that this "stretches" the battery's capacity to its maximum, which it then remembers. So the next time you charge it 1-2 hours it should go all the way to its full potential. Sort of like an old pair of jocks - the more you stretch it out, the more you can fill it eventually.
LiPoly does NOT need this 14-hour initial charge, as I've been told. But my batt life was terrible, something like 36 hours at first on the T610. So I went and did the 14-hour charge thing, and now I get at least 48 hours out of it.
So anyway, just to be safe.. go for the 14, regardless of what technology you're on
