Ok here is my little dilemma ... I just picked up a cheap Blackberry on ebay hoping to pop my Tmobile SIM card in and get rid of my palm completely. Well I was in for a surprise when it was saying data connection refused. After calling Tmobile, apparently you need to pay $30 extra a month just to use data connectivity with your blackberry, DOH! And $20 if you have something like a Treo 600.
I also checked out other carriers and they are all the same. So basically here's what I want, a PDA/PIM phone that does browsing, but that will work over Tmobile's Tzones which I currently have. After all why should I have to pay $20 a month for something that I essentially already have for $3 a month? Will something like the Sony-Ericsson P800/P900 do this for me? All I want is basic browsing and maybe POP email support.

That is correct. T-Zones runs on a seperate platform and is WAP. Blackberry works differently to the best of my knowledge. Also if you are still paying 2.99 for t-zones then you only get 1MB of data. Even if it did work with the blackberry, it would defeat the purpose in having limitations on your data. If you can figure out how to get it to work. Please post again so we can pass on the info. Good Luck PCW2

The cool thing is I was on the 2.99 plan for a while, so when they rolled out the unlimited plan they upgraded me without me even asking while keeping it at the 2.99 price! That's why I want a PDA phone, unlimited Internet access for $3 is a steal.
I will keep looking, hopefully some of the phones coming down the pipeline will work properly. Thanks guys.

One of the replies was correct in assuming that that WAP access is different than Blackberry access. You are not getting full data access with WAP - your are getting a limited bandwidth, specialized version of data download that is extremely limited, both by the bandwidth, the speed, and the WAP versions of supporting websites. Blackberry internet gives you full access to HTML internet, no limit of surfing, POP3 and VPN email capabilities. Im too tired to think of other differences.
