Hello everyone,
A friend of mine recently purchased a Samsung X600 package from SFR. From the very first day she has been experiencing an awkward echo problem. When she talks to someone on that particular phone, the other party hears his or her own voice. So when I talk to her I always hear the echo of my own voice. We know that this problem does not stem from the service provider (SFR-France) and my telephone functions perfectly (oh well, I own a SE T68 and time to time it reboots itself but I got used to that). We tried switching the simcards etc but that did not work either. When she puts the simcard in her old phone, she does not experience any problems. The matter of fact she does not hear the echo herself, it is always the other party who complains about the strange echo.
She took the phone to the Samsung service in Paris and the technicians told her that her telephone is perfectly normal !!!!.
Is there anybody else out there who experiences similar echo problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Did she tried lowering her sound when in a call by pushing the down side arrow (if that phone have one).

Yes, I tried that too.. Naturally when I set the earpiece volume to low the echo also fades a bit. However, it is still there.
I do not think that the mic of Samsung X600 is so sensitive that it picks from the earpiece and somehow transmits the sound back to me.
I am puzzled with this problem. I believe it is a hardware issue but the service claims that there is nothing wrong with the phone.
I have no idea about the quality of Samsung phones. I've always thought that they manufacture decent phones. So disappointing...

Did you tried it with other providers in the X600? Do you hear echo with the headset? Not all samsung phones are like that my T100, V200, E700 and E710 work just fine.

That, I did not try. Furthermore, this problem is not location specific. I realize that reception could be dodgy sometimes due to distribution of base stations, distance to the base station etc etc.
No matter where we go this problem persists.
Do you guys happen to know the version history of the firmware of this specific model? Is there a new firmware available for this phone?
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you about the firmware version of this phone because I do not know how to do that with Samsung.

The echo happens sometimes in every phone ive had, Nokia 6220, 6610 , 3310, 2100. Sony ericsson T610, samsung e700, Panasonic x60.
Not a thing to be worried about as it doesn't happen that often. Also has something to do with your connection.
When i was with optus it happened allot but now im with vodafone it only happens once every 2 months.
