I am not sure if anyone ever mentioned that in this forum. If my understanding is correct, Samsung only supply serial data cable and not usb cable and their GPRS S/W is written for serial cable. When you go to the setup of GPRS, you will find that by default it is set to COM1 and speed 115200. Those settings are only good for serial cable and not usb cable. For USB cable, you need a USB driver, it is actually a USB-to-Serial bridge that makes the USB cable function like a serial cable. When you install the usb driver, it will assigned to a COM port higher than 2, such as COM3 and in my case, it is COM4 since COM3 is already used by another device. So you have to modified GPRS setup to that of COM3 or whatever COM port as assigned for the USB-to-Serial driver (you can find that out from Device Manager under Ports). Also change the speed to 230400, that is the speed I use for my E316. After the setup is modified, it should detect the phone. If it still doesn't work, chances are you got the wrong cable. The first cable that I bought is compatible to E808 which is not compatible to E316. I have to return that and got another one from another place. Hope the information helps.

I was wondering if anybody could send me a link to download Easy GPRS 2.1.8. The only version I can seem to find on Samsung is 2.0.2. The 2.0.2 version works fine for the phone book but no sounds or images will work.

I am trying to send wall pictures and tones to my phone but they never appear. I get a pop up that says Completed but the tone or image never shows up in my downloads.

Please Advise.

Thanks in advance!

Um.. there's a new program called Samsung PC Studio 2.0 PIM & File Manager -- pretty much the same as Easy GPRS.

Just thought I'd let people know, since they're still using. Easy GPRS? Hmmm....

Just go to my.samsungmobile.com

All I did was look up my phone and d/led the program there--for free. also, I got drivers there. :]

I used the Samsing PC Studio 2.0 PIMS and File Manager program. It works vertually the same as easy gprs, imo. I've used easy gprs since like... waayyyy back in Dec. '04, so yea... They look the same to me. :] Works the same too.

Anyway, here's the only, which can be found at http://my.samsungmobile.com/en/phone/manual_software/manual_software.j sp?page=3
Scroll down to any phone... This url is from my phone, the Samsung SGH-e730
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSit e=SFC_MY_EN&CttFileID=384798&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-E7 30&VPath=SW/200601/20060102104255609_PIMS_and_File_Manager.exe

Don't forget to download a compatible USB driver so that it'll recognize your phone. :]
