Hi there,
Just bought a Noika 6100 off someone. Phone works perfect in every other aspect.
Except my laptop wont even recognise the phone. Not even the icon in the taskbar comes up.
The laptop will recognise my 8210 via infrared no problem.
I have read that the 6100 does have some IR problems, but these all relate to things after the phone has been detected in the first place!
Anyone got some ideas/settings etc?
Cheers!

Try reducing speed of ir port frm the IR properties and c if that helps.

most of the Laptop IR's are not updated with the latest drivers . this will also be one of the reason for not detecting your new phone but detecting your old one. <bR>
but there is also one more thing you can do , try to install Nokia Data suite or any other software like oxygen phone book manager .. and configure as if you have the phone connected via irda .
Enable irda on your mobile and try to connect the software with the phone ... if should work . Lemme know what's your result..

That has nothing to do with drivers in most cases.
Even the old laptop of my mom (Cel. 400 with Windows ME) works with my 6600.
I guess the IrDA on the phone might be broken. Try sending a contact card between the 8210 to the 6100 (in both directions; don't forget to activate the IrDA on both phones ). If it doesn't work, the IrDA on the 6100 is dead for sure.
And be sure to use the right side, not the top of the 6100 (yes, I know... but some people even don't know where the IrDA is on their phone).

The 6100 is "old"... "old" phones couldn't do that.
They still need Nokia PC Suite.

I also have the 6100 and testing with a palm top, mobile's infra red works, but the pc also does not recognize at all. Even using the nokia suite nothing happens. Is there a special configuration for nokia suite to use the infra red or only slowing the speed?
