Actually the tutorials are right in this forum. The HOW TO section has instructions on optiflash and samsung DIY along with Januka. Januka's home site also has a nice short beginner guide and the Samsung DIY site did, but it was removed.

Can you possibly give me a direct link to the items?
I've looked at all those codes and the numeric ones are fine but the ones that have text too!!!!
I'm not even sure what it is I want to do, i.e. is it change startup logo, operator logo?
I am delighted with the phone but the O2 splash screens on startup and shutdown are really annoying me.

You want to replace the startup animation picture files. The operator logo is not the startup animation, it is the logo that is displayed for your carrier when in their coverage area, that cannot be replaced (yet) in this manner. As far as memory locations, they vary. It is up to you to search your individual firmware to find them.

Phone locked: return for servicing fix
There are two ways to fix this problem
Reflash the phone with a working backup of the firmware or a new copy
Get a new phone or return it to the service provider
