Is there any way to use my Moto V400 (Cingular) to provide a telephone connection to a credit card swipe machine? My credit card machine simply plugs into a standard phone jack and dials a number.
I am looking for a way to process credit card orders via my cell-phone in the field.
Any suggestions/tips/tricks?
THANKS
Peter

You can try calling Nextel. They have an attachment that plugs in to your phone (Creditel). This could work since they use Motorola phones or you can try searching the web for "Creditel" let me know if that helped.

Thanks for the info. I am aware of those products.
I am hoping to avoid buying something new as I already have the machine.
There has to be a way to hook up a normal landl line device to my cell phone.
THANKS

I do have a laptop, but I must be confused.
How can I attach the credit card machine to my laptop? I am checking to see if I can just process cards via the internet but I have not heard back yet from my merchant provider.
Are you saying that if I connect my laptop to the phone, there is a way I can plug in the swipe machine?
The credit card machine I have only has standard phone jacl on it.
THANKS
Peter

connect your cellphone to a laptop via usb cable and connect your credit card machine to the laptop eith a regular ttelephone jack(if you have that option) or get a usb adaptor or cable to connect your credit card machine to a computer. this way you are using a cell phone as a dail up modem for the laptop and the laptop as a server to your credit card machine.
see if that works and let em know

Ok, now I see.
Once last question though. Normally my swipe terminal dials a number to my service and process the order that way. If I am already connected with my laptop, how would the terminal connect?
Or are you saying to have the laptop dial the credit card service number and then the swipe terminal should work?
THANKS
Peter

first of all, the reason why you have to connect your phone to the laptop so you can have a modem. once you connect it, then you plug in the credit card terminal and then swipe the card
