I'm a new VX4500 owner and am thinking about getting a USB data cable so I can manage ringtones and wallpaper on the PC. Can anyone point me at any details regarding the file format for ringtones and wallpaper pics as well as details for downloading via the USB data cable -- the phone manual doesn't give any details and I can't find specifics anywhere. Thanks!

You can send mp3's and mid files for ringtones. You need bitpim .7 test 9 or later. To send ringtones if its a mid file, you can just send it as is. For mp3, the best way is to use AUDACITY. Open an mp3 and export it. Send it through bitpim. You have to be sure to rename the extension from mp3 to mid. Graphics i think you can send jpg and gif, the size should auto-adjust

I hate to be picky... but you're sure the LG VX4500 works with BitPim? It's not listed, and I'd hate to buy the mobile office kit for the phone and have it not work properly. I've been reading good and bad things about the USB cable. Any updates or experience notes would be great!
Thanks!

My husband has a 4500 and successfully loaded midi files with Bitpim 7.18 on MAC OS X. The cable used came from Susteen.com (DataPilot) or you can use a cable purchased from Radio Shack for the 4500 made by Futuredial. He hasn't tried wallpapers yet.

Got the 4500. Got the FutureDial USB cable (#19). Think I installed the right drivers. Got BitPim. Can't get/send any data. I think that BitPim is reading my phone or the cable as a VX4400.
Any Ideas?

When you installed the driver, what did you select in the phone model dropdown list?

What driver are you refering to?
I can't get Bitpim to connect at all with my VX4500 on an open serial port!
I'm using a Gomadic cable that has worked in the past, and a newer Dell windows XP.
