Hi Guys,
Any ideas if the nokia data cable will work with Mac (os x) for the 7200?
Hopefully the phone will just mount as a disc & i can drag photos off the phone??
What about infrared? Maybe i can get a IRDA 'nodule' to transfer pics?
I'm a bit disapointed that you can't attach pics to emails with this phone - my old phone (siemens s55) could do that & i would've thought that the 7200 would also.
I have always been an anti-nokia person, but the 7200 seemed to break the boring "same shape nokia" trend - it does look ultra cool, but now i am having 2nd thoughts.
The phone is real nice & the navigation is pretty good - but the connectivity just seems a bit lame.
Hopefully some good advice from those in the know will lay my fears to rest.
cheers,
Riquez

You can try to just send the pic/midi/whatever via IrDA to the phone.
I've searched the web, but I've found no information about it.
The cables won't work, only for using the phone as modem (and that only with specially made drivers and scripts).
The easiest way would be to upload the stuff to a webspace and just download it via WAP.

You got it mixed up - i want to get stuff OFF the phone ONTO the computer, not the other way round
eg: i take a photo using the phone - then i transfer the photo ONTO my computer.
Do you think irda will work for that?
cheers

OH...
I know it work with Windows, about Mac I haven't found any info. I would first try it on a Mac with IrDA before buying one.
What you could try is send a MMS to you email adress. Should normally work, just enter a email adress instead of a phone number.

I picked up an irda adaptor today (belkin smartbeam)
But not having much joy
My compuer instantly recognised "nokia 7200" in range & (on the phone) the irda icon comes on. - that looked promising.
..but if i try to send a pic from the phone (via infrared) it just instantly says "failed" - it doesnt even attempt to do anything - it just says "failed"
if i try to activate irda (settings > connectivity) the phone complains "unable to activate ir reception"
so now i am stuck again
any ideas would be great
cheers

PS: oh yes, i tried sending via mms to my email as suggested, but the mms option only allows phone numbers.

When I wrote a MMS on my 6220 I go to "Options" and select "Send to email" - that should work on the 7600 too.
For the IrDA problem: I thought, that might happen...
What could help:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/applications/virtualpc/
Virtual PC is nice, maybe, but only maybe, it's possible to get it to work with the IrDA and the phone... maybe a friend of yours has the program or can organize it
