I recently got a Nokia 6230, bought sim free but now with an O2 Online Talkalot sim. I'm now thinking about making use of GPRS...but I don't know how. I can't get settings from the O2 site as it doesn't list the phone...I don't know if that means I simply can't.

Anyway, can I, and if so, how do I go about setting up my Nokia 6230 for O2 pay as you go GPRS?

Only contracts are supported, no "pay as you go" settings.

Try the settings for the 6220, they should work.

Whatever settings I enter, I just seem to get 'Creating GPRS connection' for ages...nothing else.

Normally it should, but... is WAP activated for your contract? You should ask o2 for it.

Ahh...I didn't know it had to be activated...

I don't have a contract though, just pay as you go. So I need to ask them to turn it on for my account?

As I said... normally it should be activated...

I would also retry sending the settings... otherwise just call o2... they should help

or this might help:

http://www.filesaveas.com/o2wap.html

and maybe this, because the 6230 has WAP 2.0 like the 6600, settings should be related:

Well I managed to get connected.

But...

Today, if I try to access anything, most times I get a "GPRS connection not available" message. It sometimes works, but I think it goes off again soon after. I have WebViewer, and I haven't managed to get anything on that today.

The 'G' is always there (well, as I type this it's actually not there...recently gone for some reason), but sometimes there's a box around it. What does this mean?

The settings haven't changed since I had easy access yesterday, so is it my problem or...?

For the G:

It's explained in the manual icon_wink.gif should be around page 29 (english manual)

o2 Germany (my provider) has a arrangement with T-Mobile, so when the o2 signal is too weak, I switch to T-Mobile (without any additional fees), but when I'm with T-Mobile I can't use WAP. Is there something like this in the UK?

Found the 'G' explanation. icon_smile.gif

I don't think it's switching to T-Mobile...it still sayd O2-UK on the screen, but also, I've been trying this from the exact same location at home, trying to get it to work...so the reception should be the same.

At the minute, the 'G' doesn't seem to be on display at all... icon_cry.gif
