According to Samsung's Level II technical support. The X426 is quite limited. The easy gprs cannot delete any files stored to it with the exception of the address book/calendar etc. Ringtones that you can upload through the software as well as the pictures cannot be deleted by the Easy GPRS. I have not been able to locate any hacks out there to delete these files. The phone is great besides this feature. Be sure to have the latest firmware 1.6 if you are experiencing a louder than usual microphone. This file manager problem extends to the x427 (cingular) as well. Fix this thing Samsung!

File manager is to download photo's from your phone to your pc. So if your phone don't have a camera that function is disabled.

What is the easiest way to find out what firmware the x426/427 currently has?
Thanks!

You can delete downloaded pictures/ringtones directly from the phone. Go into the Funbox -> Downloads ->Sounds or Pictures menu. Select the file, then go into options for the file and you should see "delete" on the options menu. Hope this helps.

Use this code *#9999#. Just punch it in as if you were dialing a number. After you hit the second #, your firmware version should be displayed on the screen.

Thanks! Worked like a charm - showed version 1.7. Guess that is the latest firmware for this model (x427).
Thanks again!

That means you have the latest firmware. Rev. 1.7 is a Rogers Wireless customized version.
