You need to use a data cable or I think you are pretty much limited to what they have available.
However, you can make custom stuff if you wish to... I've made a ton of custom images for my VX4400 using whatever pictures I want (off the Net, from personal photo scans, whatever) and editing them in Adobe Photoshop. They need to be 120 X 98 pixels and saved in .JPG or 24-bit .BPM format.
Then you need to get a data cable like the one from FutureDial, you can get them many places like http://www.cellphonemall.net/wireless/store/accessorydetail.asp?id=190 91&phoneid=240 or you should check out ebay for a good deal. http://www.ebay.com
I have a CD full of files, apps, games, etc., for the VX4400... you need a program called BITPIM to talk to your phone and upload the wallpapers, ringtones, etc., but I much prefer the data cable method than using GetItNow! It's much cheaper and more convenient. It takes a little bit of reading and trial & error, but it's actually quite easy and fun once you've done it a couple of times. I change my wallpapers and ringtones all the time now and I don't think I would be doing that if I had to pay Verizon every time I did it.
If you get the data cable and want some files for your phone, hit me up and I will send you a copy of the CD.

There is also a get it now application for the 4400 under Get pix. You pay $4.00 a month... and sign up on the internet... you set upa gallery and can upload the pix to the website...then download them to your phone... depends on the price you can get for the data cable i guess... i know radio shack charges like $78... after you delete the app you can still have your wallpapers and whatnot on the phone.

So I can't just put jpegs on the SD card, load the SD card into the phone, and then select them to use as wallpaper?
I admit I may not be the most tech-savvy guy in the world, but is it just me, or is the manual that comes with the Voyager I got this week somewhat less than worthless? It doesn't even show you which way the SD card goes into the silly thing. I like the phone okay, but I'm utterly at a loss as to how to do a lot of things with it.

There are ways to get the desired wallpaper you want from your memory card. And most phone manuals leave out much of the desired information about the phone, they are general guides for what you already likely know.
