My sister's 5 month old photo phone, T610, has developed a yellow streak inside the screen which got bigger and made it difficult to read texts or see pictures. She sent it to the authorised repair people, Hays Technology, for repair or replacement under guarantee. They say the streak is caused by customer damage, want £65 to repair it, or if we have it back unrepaired, £19 handling charge. My sister swears she hasn't damaged it and there was certainly no sign of external abuse on it. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else has had the problem since it would put her in a stronger position with Sony and Hays.

I found the t610 has a lot of problem. I bought it last oct, and now the joystick doesn't work.
Could you tell the processure of the repairing? What should be send to the Hays technology? And how long have you waited for the returning of the phone?
Thanks

My T610 has just done a similar thing at about 5 months old. It started as a yellow "worm" near the screen centre and has grown over the last week into a yello blob about 1cm in diameter. I have spoken to O2 who supplied the phone and have been told to take it into a local shop where a decision will be taken regarding liability.
I know that I have not damaged the phone but will have to wait and see what their judgement is!

Don't take it lying down. Get hold of Sony Ericsson or the Sony Ericsson importer for your country and complain bitterly. If it is a service providor T610 then take it back to the place you bought it and demand a replacement, if they say no then ask to speak to the manager, if he says no then wait till the shop is really really busy and start complaining LOUDLY whilst the shop is full of shoppers...
That should sort them out...
