Hi,

got a rather beat up e700 here, think its got some memory problems. It took ages to look through pictures, and the camera mode just locked it up, or sometimes worked but with really washy pictures. Thought it could be a corrupted firmware or something, so i followed the instructions here:
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic11848.html

but it generates a "Timeout during the download" error a few % in. The best it got to was 9%. The NAND Format command works ok, but i can't flash it. Tried with 3 different firmware versions.

Is there anything i can do to save it, or shall i consign it to the depths of mobile hell?

Thanks,

ButtersB

Try downloader 3.2 also plus the charger into ur data cable.

1. Open the downloader 3.2
2. Set COM Port
3. Set speed to 115200
4. Choose Bin Only
5. Browse for the Bin file
6. Press start button
7. Plus the data cable with charger into your fone and just wait (works for me well and no need to press On/Off button at all!)
8. Do the same with the Nand file

That worked well with my e700 icon_biggrin.gif and hope it works with your too! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks, but no luck. Tried 3.2a instead of 3.3 but got the same error.

How do i plug in the charger at the same time as the data cable? Its a serial S500 cable.

I reckon the memory is either shot, or just REALLY slow. Is there any way i can increase the timeout delay, or disable the timeout entirely?

Ah, right, my cable doens't have that.

I tried it a few different ways with different software and get the same timeout error every time. I reckon theres definately a hardware problem with the phone, so unless i can alter the timeout delay i'm probably screwed.

Thanks for the help anyway.

It actually seems to be working on a different computer, must be some crazy settings on my computer. Never tried to use the com port on this one before, oh well, i use an IR dongle for transfers on my e700 anyway (not the beat up one, i look after my phone icon_razz.gif ).

Do i remove the battery and put it back in again in between the bin and nand flash or leave it on and connected?

Edit: never mind, doing the nand now

Yep its ok now, thanks. It even scrolls though pictures at normal speed now, but the camera is still half knackered. Doesn't matter though, its better than it was.
