I'm looking for some assistance.

I cannot install Nokia 6610 PC Suite 5.1 on a Windows XP Pro machine (Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E Series).

The phone is detected without a problem but when installing the software

Can anybody offert some assistance

I've tried both versions already. Strange error. It almost seams the my system fails one of the initial checks of the installer package.

The program fails during the configuration sequence of windows installer.

Dumb question: does your windows-account has admin-rights?
If no, there's the problem maybe, because "normal" users mostly can't install applications which install new drivers or equal.
If yes, you maybe need updating your infrared-drivers

Does the Notebook find the cellphone generally?
Windows normally says, it has found another computer called "Nokia 6610"
When no, there is maybe something really wrong with the infrared-device (drivers or hardware).

my usr has local admin rights so no worries there

The problem was the installshield driver (scripting engine).

Start\run

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\7\Intel 32\IDriver.exe" /REGSERVER

Solves the problem

Strange error. Probably a configuration error due to a previously failled installation.

Thx for your help everybody.

Is it possible to use all the features of the software if I use a USB->IR adaptor? Or is it better to use a data cable icon_question.gif
