I don't see how the topic got switched to the iphone but on the topic of reception I am very happy with cingular's reception. My family has used phones from verizon, sprint, and virgin mobile(which is not worth even mentioning) and find cingular's reception far superior. I live in rural washington state about an hour outside of seattle. Our families cingular phones get reception in more places than all our services did not even an anolog signal. The local area is very hilly but even 20 miles away from civilzation we still get reception. With my mom's sprint phone we had to be within 2 miles of a small city to get a signal that wasn't roaming. I don't want to seem biased but atleast in western washington it is the best cell phone provider around.

Any techs out there that can answer a question honestly. I have an unlocked samsung D500 (tri) and D600 (quad) bought and used them in the UK and now moved to US. They are unlocked. Ive used them on ATT/Cingular for over the past year. I would say the reception (signal strength is getting worse). I can see that the D500 not working well because it does not have the 850 band. But the D600 has all four and still works just as bad as the D500.

Could it be that they are a couple years old now and just not as good with technology here in the USA, or because they were originally branded for the providers in the UK and maybe tweaked for them. But like I said, they worked better over a year ago. I cant get any info from Samsung and providers here just want to make you buy a phone and spend the money and extend your two year contract. I don't mind buying a phone, but I dont want to get the same poor quality of service and not be able to return the phone.

a difficult pickle at best. as long as your device(s) can see 850 and or 1900 MHZ it **should** work fine. try a master rese (back to factory settings) and see if that improves things.other than that. probabaly the phone

AT&T has pushed me over the edge, and the service I have is just simply unacceptable. Everytime I see their ads I get mad and want to laugh at how they are "raising the bar" so high that I can't get any calls!

Does anyone know any phones that I might be able to get overseas, or that are unlocked, that I can use with Verizon? Or, is there another option? Seriously - the service is that bad.

It takes me 2 hours sometimes to get text messages and voice mail, let alone be able to actually make or receive a call.

Please help!

I sorta noticed that i . i dunno. I sorta think that the reception of Cingular would have been better without AT&T.

Does anyone know if Cingular Sim cards Register with AT&T service set phones? that would be a cool feature.

I dunno.I woulda liked it if Cingular stayed Independent.

but i do guess that 2 gsm Satellites in the sky are better than one i suppose.

btw, gsm doesn't use satelites, lol

I was considering getting a LG Viewty, on a AT&T network. It says it only supports:HSDPA / GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 so I'm wondering if that's a problem. I live in Michigan by the way.

Thank you.
