I work for Alltel and I would like to state that all of you have several VALID points. ... Eventhough, NO service provider can guarantee 100% coverage...since the merger with Alltel, Western Wireless (CellularOne) and MidWest Wireless; Alltel has the largest coverage in the US. This fact was confirmed by an independent third party study in July 2005 that measured each carriers geographical owned and operated network. Also, Alltel is one of the only providers that offer "automatic minute back" for any dropped call on their network. That shows how committed they are to their network. But don't let me sway anyone's decision, I'm sure you can make up your own mind.
OK...here we go icon_rolleyes.gif No offense, but aside from Nextel, which has repeaters posted in the building, Verizon is the only service that carries across the school. Also I have had no dead spots. Ever. Across Michigan. All the way to Atlanta, Georgia. That pretty much works for me! icon_biggrin.gif

Just my 2 cents

I am in flint MI and the reception for a v710 and e815 is awsome! no dead spots! BUT... I bought a I730 and after 4 later I found the phone is a pos in my area! Why no idea must not be the towers but the phone! If your in this area DO NOT get a pda phone! You will not have reception unless you can see the tower!

Bottom line: It all depends where you live. If you're trying to decide what carrier to go with, talk to different people in your area and ask them how their service worls.
I live in California(MOnterey Bay area) and around here Cingular is terrible. I used to have them about 5 or 6 years ago...i believe it has Pacific Bell Wireless then... and it was terrible. I've never had a problem with verizon.
Even now I have a friend that has Cingular and every now and then he has to borrow my phone to make a call.

So the service that best worls for you will not necessarily work for someone else in a different area.

I live in a small suburb of a mid sized city in Ohio and I know for a fact that Verizon Wireless is the best. I have had Sprint, Cingular, and VirginMobile, and all of them did not even find signal at my house. Then I got Verizon. I get 2 bars inside and 3 bars outside now. I'm extreamly happy with the way the company has treated me and would never switch to any other carrier.

That's my story of how Verizon Wireless is the best carrier with the best network. Period.

I travel all over the back roads of Northern Ohio. I have personally tried Verizon, Alltel, Nextel, and Sprint. The only provider that is reliable is Verizon. My sister lives in Burbank, Ca and she has tried multiple providers. None better than Verizon.
Like many of you said, it depends on where you live and work. I think the phoen type makes a difference too. On Verizon, Kyocera and Nokia suck. Moto, Samsung, and LG are good.
From the reports i have read, noone spends more money quarterly than Verizon on system maintenance and improvements.

I had All the companies under the sun, but by far i think that Verizon is number one. First GSM is suppose to be able to use in Europe and other countries because GSM uses Satelite. That's great that you can use the phone in Europe, but services like T-mobile and Cingular are very spotty in the US.
