I am here to tell you that I along with several others have not been happy. You can copy and paste as many JD Power quotes as you want... I will continue to voice my frustrations and encourage others to do their homework on coverage in their area before signing with Verizon due to poor customer service... as you have demonstrated, Tampadelphian!

Nota,
Maybe you did not take the time to read the post prior to your's, appears to be some happy customers out there.. How about you throw a zip code out here so someone can look at a coverage map? VZW nor any company can cover every inch of the US, there is alot behind the why/when/where/how a cell site is postioned.. There are rules, regulations, etc companies have to follow.. You know there is a company that way back in the day I truly admired until they messed with my account, I will not name the company but it is a "partner company " ie merger with one of the major cell companies.. While I personally would not purchase anything associated with the company I do have friends who have that particular company.. I do not bad mouth them nor set around telling my friends not to do business with them.. We all have choices and hey some work better than others, bottom line you must kind of like VZW since you continue going on about them. Plus most people use their own situation so bad mouthing a company doesn't do any good if the other party has had a great experience.
As to the issue with phones, all wireless companies overall are the same with warranty exchanges, etc. The phones are not made by the wireless company but by a manufac.. so changing companies is not necessarily going to prevent you from having issues with a phone..
And we as well encourage people to do their research as far as coverage, just as you would research anything else you chose to purchase!!! Hello!

Verizon just updated their website coverage map in the past day or 2 and shows new areas that are getting Vcast (have to call to find out what month you're getting it if its coming soon). Found out Omaha area is getting it in October ^_^ and just bought a new 8300 a few weeks ago so I'll make good use of it at first to see if it warrants $15 a month or not.

I live in northern Calvert County along the bay (ZIP:20639). Coverage is very spotty, I was wondering if there was a particular number or person to call to see if a new tower is possible.
Thanks

But in responce to his statement, I do have great service in my home, throughout my home as well as in my basement. I get service in underground subway systems, and I usually have a signal in elavators. I guess it just depends on where you are. I'm in Washington DC. |
Denny Strigl, the current CEO of VZW seems to have his head on straight

Thats like having DSL and living 3mi from the box. Your gonna get crappy speed... If you dont have VZW in your area, blame the FCC... not us. |
You should check your 'facts' before you spout! For 4 years I believed that crap when I had Verizon, with 3 towers 4-6 miles from my house, couldn't keep a signal if my life depended on it. Well, I got rid of Verizon and got Cingular, similar in that there are 2 towers roughly 6 miles ffrom my house, with a different result. You know what? It actually works! I don't have to charge the phone twice a day anymore, because it trying to lock onto a signal. I now charge once every 5 days. We're no closer to the towers but these ones work. Oh yea, and they also work inside the house, not just outdoors. Don't attempt to cover your mistake, with the 'roaming on other GSM signals' either, cause where we live they are non-existant.
I never minded paying for service, as long as I could use it. I just don't appreciate paying for service that doesn't work. Cingular fixes issues on the first call too, not like Verizon, where when I finally cancelled there was still a list of unresolved issues, that were given lip service, but no attempt was made to do anything about them.
SO get off your soapbox, and take off the blinders. It's not as simple as you think. |
Umm well lets see, it all depends on where you live and the limitations on where the closest towers are, I for 1 had Cingular, well converted from AT&T, I called Cingular over 25 times and never had my issue resolved, I droped my old plan and got new everything from cingular as they stated this would fix the problem of not having service at my home despite having 6 towers within 12 miles, and 4 with 6 miles that make a nice square around my house. Guess what, I couldn't get service with Cingular for about one half mile around my house, outside, standing at the highest hill around. I called Cingular about this and I was told, sorry dead spot. I switched to Verizon and had 2 towers both more than 4 miles away, I get full service inside my house upstairs, and 2-3 bars in the basement, where I can now make and receive calls from my own couch.

My sister has returned 2 phones just this week because of battery life and a bad LCD screen. You should also note that while she was able to return the phone, they wouldn't do anything about the battery. She was forced to buy another battery.
I personally left Verizon because I wasn't happy with their coverage. I travel quite a bit with my job. I am currently using Nextel and while the coverage is not perfect, at least they are upfront with their coverage plan... and when you think you're going to have service, you have it! I HATE watching all of these ridiculous Verizon commercials claiming they have the best coverage. FALSE ADVERTISING and POOR customer service. |
HMMM, so while someone says they will give you good coverage, and that maps are an estimate, and almost 55 million people have the service with the lowest customer loss rate of any other company has poor customer service and bad coverage, I guess 55 million people disagree.
For your top quote, I have had several LG phones, and if you treat them correctly, charge the battery at home with an at home wall charger, or buy 2 batteries and let them run dead then swap they seem to last forever. If you use a car charger, which is intended for quick charging and should be done only when you must, you will wear out the battery. If you leave the phone in very cold or very hot areas, say a car, outside, then you will ruin your own battery. Keep it up with a phone from another carrier, will be glad to hear when your angry because there batteries die as well. My batteries which are standard for my LG, last about 4-7 days, and I use my phone for about 100-200 min of talk time and about 400 texts per day.
