My sister has returned 2 phones just this week because of battery life and a bad LCD screen. You should also note that while she was able to return the phone, they wouldn't do anything about the battery. She was forced to buy another battery.

I personally left Verizon because I wasn't happy with their coverage. I travel quite a bit with my job. I am currently using Nextel and while the coverage is not perfect, at least they are upfront with their coverage plan... and when you think you're going to have service, you have it! I HATE watching all of these ridiculous Verizon commercials claiming they have the best coverage. FALSE ADVERTISING and POOR customer service.

HMMM, so while someone says they will give you good coverage, and that maps are an estimate, and almost 55 million people have the service with the lowest customer loss rate of any other company has poor customer service and bad coverage, I guess 55 million people disagree.

For your top quote, I have had several LG phones, and if you treat them correctly, charge the battery at home with an at home wall charger, or buy 2 batteries and let them run dead then swap they seem to last forever. If you use a car charger, which is intended for quick charging and should be done only when you must, you will wear out the battery. If you leave the phone in very cold or very hot areas, say a car, outside, then you will ruin your own battery. Keep it up with a phone from another carrier, will be glad to hear when your angry because there batteries die as well. My batteries which are standard for my LG, last about 4-7 days, and I use my phone for about 100-200 min of talk time and about 400 texts per day.

good facts, very good facts, best of all vzw does not OUTSOURCE its customer care.

Yes that was a good post.. I often wonder when one is constantly needing a replacement phone every few months or so what the real problem is.. I have to believe it has more to do the user. (not everytime of course because there can be lemons, just like cars) I have had cell phones for over 7 years, in all the 7 yrs I have had 3 phones. Never one time have I had to replace the phone prior to my decision to upgrade.. but I don't do any of those things stated above.. Another thing alot of people must seem to do is yank their charger out of the phone cause seem to be alot of people needing new chgrs.. It is really not difficult to take care of a cell phone, other than sometimes things can happen like talking on the phone over sink of water , ph drops but all the other constant exchanges, just don't get it.. Guess I've been lucky! icon_smile.gif

I too must agree with the above writers. I know folks who constantly use their car chargers not realizing that by doing so too often, they will overcharge their battery. My husband and I both previously had the LG4400. We bought an extra battery. When one battery ran low, we'd swap it out, charge the spare and off we went. We were never without a charged battery. Folks, you gotta take care of your cell phone. What can you expect when you drop them, abuse them, etc.

duchess,
That LG 4400 was a good phone, had one (still do just in case need a back up) never had a single problem with it but the battery life was getting not so good.. My fault as prior to being on the"phone at work all day" I used to average about 3000 mins a month overall, cant expect a battery to live thru that after a couple of years..

It was funny , I s/w a person today, wanted to know if he could upgrade his phone, so I am looking over the acct.. Opened in 5/06 , had 3 Moto E815 sent out since May?!?!? Then was sent a FREE LG 8300 at the end of Sept. and complaining.. Obivously, there is some other problem here than a "phone" issues. 4 phones in 6 months, has to be the user, cant buy that it is the phone..

As always, ya'll have a good one!

(And duchess you are right, it is not good to use a car charger unless it is necessary, some people plug in to car chgr, leave it.)

You know they don't mention how pre paid customers get different coverage areas than the monthly contract customers get. That is messed up.

Corona Ca. had at&t very spotty coverage sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't. Friends with cingular have no coverage at all in my house. Had nextel, terrible! constant dropped calls and would only work if i was standing on my 3rd stair of my stairway. Cancelled contract, have had Verizon scince 03, By far the best coverage of any company in So Cal. Cust service is not the best but not the worst, it's all in the way you present the complaint to the rep, it's all about your attitude, wit, and common sense. If you use good judgement in any conflict/resolution issue you will always win! Whether your right or not, you just must convince these low paid, mostly uneducated cust service reps that you are right! And remember no service is perfect, by far Verizon is #1 in So. Cal. Have almost full bars all the time in my house, can even make calls in areas with 1 bar only no reception problems, very few dropped calls compared to other services.

There have been many suggestions in this thread about checking coverage maps to avoid dead spots and poor reception zones, but I have not found any access to coverage maps for Verizon that are sufficiently detailed. Sprint, Cingular and T-Mobile all show coverage down to street level. When I type in a zip code on the Verizon site, I get a map that shows only an entire region (e.g. eastern Massachusetts) with no ability to zoom in. Are there more detailed maps available for Verizon? If not, why not?

From the above post, I agree, the users are likely causing damage to the phone they don't realize. Battery life in cell phones comes in cycles. One cycle=plugging a charger into charging port. What people don't realize is that batteries now have an average life span of 400 to 500 cycles. If somebody is plugging their phone into their vehicle charger everytime they get in the car they are taking a cycle off the battery life. And batteries can't overcharge unless using an indirectly purchased charger. The supplied manufacturer charger or carrier branded charger can remain plugged in no damage. The best way to take care of a battery is to charge it once a day, letting it die down before recharging. And once a week it's good to have the phone off while charging, so as to ensure the battery is complete and full. If a charging port gets busted through rough use, there's generally one option for a fix: replacement handset. As for the VZW maps needaphone, the site was recently updated and you can zoom to the street level. You have to be registered for My Account I think, otherwise you just get the broad general map.

In my part of the country (Northwest) we are lucky to have a major carrier complete our contract before they tell us we are "off network".
We had great service for a little over two years with Cingular and suddenly they send us a letter telling us that over 50 percent of our calls are off network and suddenly we are getting the off network message on our phones when we areonly 300 yds. from one of their towers. Sprint is doing the same thing in our area and Verizon just started to service our town but nothing outside of the town itself. Altell hasn't shown up around here yet.

P.S. We have 3 LG C2000's and have had great luck with them, previously had C1300's and liked them too though we have had rotten luck with a LG CG225
