Of course you do. They have repeaters in the D.C. subway tunnels.

I'm in mid TN, I get GREAT coverage. A few areas were VZW doesn't have towers. But otherwise. I'm happy. Only thing is 1X signal no EV-DO.

Wow, I sense some hostility here, you're like the guy that gets mad and throws phones at people in the store! well I'm more than willing to bet that cingular's towers went up and interferred with the verizonwireless towers. I think its so funny that you can get so upset over a cell phone. I'm glad to hear cingular works better for you though. Sometimes things are just not meant to be.

I also have Verizon and I live in Missouri. I almost NEVER have trouble finding signal anywhere I go. I only have one dead spot and Im almost never there so it doesnt really matter. I love verizon. I had AT&T and they had good signal too, but they kept ripping me off with all these extra charges and stuff so I got rid of that phone.

That depends on the type of phone you have.
CDMA yes, GSM no* both types can have a provider lock.
Once you choose the service, your phone could be locked to that provider.
*Verizon may be getting GSM and ATT may be getting CDMA there are just rumors.

what is verizon coverage like in south east kansas near the oklahoma and missouri boarders? I have grandparents who live in neodesha (some little town with 1000 people i think) and they have tried t-mobile (ok service 2 bars sometimes 3-5 outside) cingular( 1-2 bars inside) AT&T after the merger with Cingular (1-2 bars inside sometimes better).
They are so tired of not being able to make calls without hooking up an external antenna to the phone and sitting by a window that they want something else. I have heard Altell is crappy around here. Dont know but i know people who have left alltell here in kansas city for other carriers but service could be different there.
BAsicly we want a family plan they are in SE kansas rural area i am in the middle of Kansas city, MO and the other family member is in North tulsa, OK and the other is also in SE kansas in town not rural area. any ideas?

I agree that the CEO of Verizon wasn't thinking when he made that comment about their own service. Eventhough, NO service provider can guarantee 100% coverage...since the merger with Alltel, Western Wireless (CellularOne) and MidWest Wireless; Alltel has the largest coverage in the US. This fact was confirmed by an independent third party study in July 2005 that measured each carriers geographical owned and operated network. Also, Alltel is one of the only providers that offer "automatic minute back" for any dropped call on their network. That shows how committed they are to their network. But don't let me sway anyone's decision, I'm sure you can make up your own mind. |
First off Alltel only has the most coverage in the West, Southwest and South East reagons. Second The CEO that you are reffering to is not Verizon Wireless' CEO he is the CEO of Verizon Communications. And it is true that you can not expect service in a home. Third minuite back. redicilious if Alltel has the largest coverage in the US then why would you get a droped call? Also Verizon Wireless is always willing to reimburse you for anything that was ever done wrongly to you.

It is impossible for a AT&T cell tower to interferr with a Verizon cell phone tower. They run on two different frequencies, GSM(at&t) and CDMA(verizon)
