I just signed up with Sprint and had them deactivate my 8100 and activate my new phone. Customer service told me to leave my new phone and in under 2 hours it would be ready to go. I've been waiting over 2 hours and it's not working. I've tried to call and it doesn't ring. I turn it on and off but it doesn't do anything. Anyone have this happen before and do I need to call Sprint up again? Thanks.

Mine took under 30 min. Generally they'll tell you 2-4 hours for voice and 6-12 hours for data.
I suggest you check by going through your menus and seeing if the phone numbers you entered are correct. You should be able to turn off the old handsent for 24 hours after teh ESN swap to be certain there is no interference with the process. But if it were me, I'd just call.

Activations when you are hotlined take up to 2 hours esn swap meaning changing phone up to 4 hours to provision. New service when you leave the store new service with Vision 4 hours to provision don’t use before that time

I almost had a similar experience...One of the reps told me it would take 48 hours to activate and provision my account.
I later found out that the representative did not program my phone properly.

I think they meant 4 to 8 hrs, and I have seen it take almost 16 due to delays; especially around Christmas with everybody getting new phones.

Nope...The guy meant 48 hours. I called the 800 Number. She walked me through the programming and I found out that he did not finish the job. About 30 minutes after we finished the programming it worked.
I called it from my home phone and it worked. Also, Our reps have the uncanny ability of telling customers that the "used" phone that they purchased is "stolen".

Normal provisioning time for a new activation is up to 2 hours, average 30 minutes. 4 Hours for vision and ready link to be enabled. ESN (phone) swaps take up to 2 hours, average 15 minutes. Porting a number COMPLETELY depends on the company you're porting from. Cingular and ATT are the worst, they have been fined millions by the FCC for not adhereing to the WLNP standards and delaying porting.

After doing an esn swap and ##msl the phone will work right away as long as the other phone is turned off In fact if they are not on the first phone we are supposed to call them back to test it. - The web depends on if provisioning is backed up. Have seen it work right away and have seen it take up to 10 hours.
