hey,
my phone is samsung sgh x426 Rev. 1.6 and i've tried cerebros using data cable. IT did not work. After I picked q100 (equivalent of sgh x426) from the pull down menu and pressed "Unlock" it gave me error '8002'. Can anyone help me with it? Can I unlock the phone without using any datacable?
thanks!

yeah you can with a smartclip, but if you have a cable then you would be silly to get a clip. Rev 1.6 cannot be unlocked by code. You can try using Win IMEI, available at Rosewells website (prob same place you got cerebros)

I have a x426 from Rogers version 1.7, I tried the *#9998*3323# Trick and it worked.... It showed *#9998*----# on screen instea of 3323 but when I pressed exit menu did showed up select melock fail option.
Rest as instructed
Type *0141# and then press the green call key. "Personalization" or "Personalized" will appear.
7. Turn off your phone and put the original SIM back in.
8. Turn on your phone. You will receive a prompt to enter a password.
9. Type 8 zeros (00000000)
10. Completed. You have now unlocked your phone.
Thanks Man I travel to US so I have cingular in US now I can use both Rogers and Cingular. My cingular chip is working I did made few calls today, let see how Rogers will function once I go back to Canada.
Thanks alot

If you have Rev 1.5 (x426) or earlier and most older models
Use the *#9998*3323# Trick (look for it on the forum)
The *#1111*WHATEVER# code will NOT work
If you have Rev 1.6 (x426) or later and most newer models
You MUST use unlocking software. Codes WILL lock your phone FOREVER
Locked: Return for Servicing
There is only 1 working solution, you must flash a copy of the firmware that is not in the locked status. (Most) Unlocking programs will NOT disable this issue, and your service provider cannot give you a code
If you do not plan to use your phone with another service provider, there is no real point to unlocking your phone other than to sell it. If you don't need to unlock it, don't take the risk of disabling the phone altogether
The *#9998*3323# Method:
1. If you have changed your phone password, change your password back to the default 8 zeros (00000000).
2. Put a SIM card that is from a network other than the one your phone is locked to
3. When Incorrect SIM error comes up, type *#9998*3323#.
4. White screen will appear with an exit option. Press the right softkey.
5. From the menu that appears, select the Malloc Fail option. This will reboot the phone and the normal service screens will appear.

When I inserted cingular chip in locked x426 by Rogers it said wrong card, SOS only but I tried couple of time to insert *#9998*3323# Trick first it allowed me only 2 digits and to enter and said SOS only but I kept going tried few more times than it allowed me to enter *#9998*3323# but on display it showed up like *#9998*----#, but menu did showed up and selected an option melock fail and it reseted, I did it because I have phones from both companies so I took risk and it worked.
By the way i checked the version later by enetering code...Hopefully it will work fine in canada with rogers chip. I will keep posted

'Cerebros' claims it has unlocked my phone, but when I inserted T-Mobile SIM card the phone kept saying "wrong card". Is the phone unlocked or not????
If not should I try the code? Mine is Rev. 1.6. Although it's been said that it is risky to unlock Rev. 1.6 and newer ones with code some of the above posts say they even unlocked Rev. 1.7 with just a code. (confused by now...)
many thanks for answers!

Well if its saying wrong sim its not unlocked. Are you using OEM cable is so make sure the cable is switched FROM data to D/L and retry. If thats not working for you, you can always try WIN IMEI. You can try codes but at own risk obviously.

If the Rev 1.7 can be done then I do not see why the Rev 1.6 cannot but I know people who have tested both 1.6 and 1.7 and have been unsuccessful via code. You can try but that is something you do at your own risk obviously. You should be able to unlock with usb as long as you install driver.
