hey after several days I finally unlocked my samsung x426. rev 1.6. First, though, I permanently locked it using the *9998*3322 or whatever code. So then I just had to flash it with firmware off roswell108's website. So thanks roswell108, your website as well as your advice have been enormously helpful!!!

Superman21,
How about *#4357# which will display the help menu? If it works, see if you can find the correct code for S/W rev.

deskjet,
If you read the post from roswell108 carefully, it said:
"If you have Rev 1.6 (x426) or later and most newer models
You MUST use unlocking software. Codes WILL lock your phone FOREVER
Locked: Return for Servicing
There is only 1 working solution, you must flash a copy of the firmware that is not in the locked status. (Most) Unlocking programs will NOT disable this issue, and your service provider cannot give you a code"
My suggestion, bring your phone to those shop that provides unlocking service and they may be able to recover your phone.

Since you show Rogers as your service provider, I thought it is Rogers Wireless in Canada. You are right, Phillipines use different GSM 900/1800 and X426 is 850/1900, it can't be used in Phillipines.

Chances are very slim since frequency is very much depend on the hardware as well as software. Changing the software alone won't necessary means you can change the frequency unless the hardware is a quad band design which includes all the frequnecy bands. I doubt X426 is a quad band design.
