I all,
I just successfully unlocked my Rogers Samsung x426 (Rev 1.7 - X426UXDD1) with the following instructions originally posted by roswell108, using a T-Mobile UK SIM card:
1. If you have changed your phone password, change your password back to the default 8 zeros (00000000).
2. Put a SIM card that is from a network other than the one your phone is locked to
3. When Incorrect SIM error comes up, type *#9998*3323#.
4. White screen will appear with an exit option. Press the right softkey.
5. From the menu that appears, select the Malloc Fail option. This will reboot the phone and the normal service screens will appear.
6. Type *0141# and then press the green call key. "Personalization" or "Personalized" will appear.
7. Turn off your phone and put the original SIM back in.
8. Turn on your phone. You will receive a prompt to enter a password.
9. Type 8 zeros (00000000)
10. Completed. You have now unlocked your phone.
Many thanks to roswell108 for the *correct* advice.
-Paul

I have a X426 ver 1.5, and when I get to the exit screen I push the right softkey and nothing happens. Any ideas on what i am doing wrong. I am in WA state and the phone is on the old ATT - want to use it for Cingular.

im from Philippines and got my dad's old X426 fone (locked to AT&T).i am using Smart GSM sim card. i asked people from shops who unlock fones if they can do it and they turn me down saying this fone has no signal here. but one technician said he can do it, what he would do is "convert" and then put signal. is this advisable? he charges Php 1,500 for this service (about US$30). i tried the instruction of roswell but i get a wrong entry message after entering the numbers. thanks.

I don't think he (the technician) can convert X426 from 850/1900 to either 900/1800 as that involves change in both hardware and software. I have never heard that it can be done. You better save the money for another phone.

Hi.
First, thanks to all of you especially Roswell108 for posting the information. I have three X426 phones. Two just arrived from AT&T country in the USA, both locked, both Rev 1.5. My existing X426 is a Rogers Canada unit, currently active. Before I put my current SIM into one of the newcomers and try to unlock it, I just want to ask: will this unlocking process do anything to the SIM itself? I don't want to risk damaging it or losing my phone book etc.
Thanks very much.
