I have the serial data port that connects to com1 on the back of my laptop, a samsung x427 phone from my peeps at Cingular, a data cord complements of ebay, and the latest (and I'm guessing last) version of EasyGPRS.
Nothing between the software and the phone connects, the software always shows "offline" or "nothing" no matter how much I play with it (changing com ports, reinstalling software, turning phone on and off, and connecting the phone to the data port at different times during the running of EasyGPRS). When the software displays "nothing" I can atleast get to the ringtone and image menus but when I try to upload to the phone I always get an error.
Is there anything I'm missing here that anyone else can clearly see as a mistake? Should I unlock my phone first before trying to connect it to the software? I've tried using the software on many different windows OS's (XP and 98 ) and always the same results.
I'm just interested in messing with ringtones and some custom wallpapers, I do not have internet activated on this phone.
any help is greatly appreciated!

i have exactly the same problem! my V206 just won't connect to easyGPRS no matter what!
does your data cable have that little square block with a slot for your charger? and does it have the Data or D/L switch? mine doesn't...

I got mine off of eforcity.com and it doesn't have any switches on it. The connector looks the same as the power charger except it has circuity connections as well as power connections inside of it.
I'm guessing my cable doesnt need a switch for some reason, unlike other samsung models...

check your port settings. it should match from device stand point and when u go in set up option in EasyGRPS program.

Therein lies your problem.
I bought the same cable and it apparently does not have the wiring configuration required by Easy GPRS. The OEM cable has a switch that provides that configuration, which is different from that used to flash firmware.
I bought a USB cable and it works fine so I am going to see if eforcity will take the one they sold me back since their ebay ad implies that it will work with Easy GPRS.

I just got off the phone with level 2 tech support and they only thing they could come up with was that eforcity sent me a data cable that really isnt a data cable!!
I, too, sent eforcity an email about all this, I still have time to return the... whatever cord they sent me.
In the meantime, where would I find a USB data cord for my x427??
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

rick you're the man! thanks and I will be pissing off eforcity.com with many complaint emails if they don't get their crap straight about sending me a faulty data cable.
